Michelle Tanner and her twin sister Ashley Olsen appeared in the television sitcom Full House (1987–1995), a year after her birth.

They also appeared in numerous films together. Dualstar Entertainment Group was founded in 1993; it produced a long line of television films and direct-to-video films starring the girls; they appeared in Passport to Paris (2001), Our Lips Are Sealed (2000), Holiday in the Sun (2001), and So Little Time (2001), for which she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in Children's Programming. They appeared in Getting There (2006), When in Rome (2002), The Challenge (2003), and made cameos in Charlie's Angels: The Full Throttle (2003).

New York Minute (2004), she and her twin sister appeared in her final film together.

She continued to perform independently, appearing in a few guest-starring roles in films and television shows, as well as in Beastly (2011). Both Mary-Kate and Ashley declared in March 2012 that they did not wish to pursue their careers in fashion, so they decided not to pursue their fashion careers. She and her twin sister co-founded luxury fashion brands The Row, Elizabeth and James, as well as more affordable fashion options Olsenboye and StyleMint.

They are members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Early life and education

Mary-Kate Olsen was born in Sherman Oaks, California, on June 13, 1986. She is the granddaughter of Jarnette "Jarnie" (née Jones, b. David "Dave" Olsen, a real estate developer and mortgage lender, was born in 1954. Taylor and Jake, her older brother, Elizabeth Edwards, younger sister and actress Elizabeth, and Elizabeth's younger sister, Taylor and Jake (from her father's second marriage), as well as her twin Ashley. In 1996, Olsen's parents divorced. The twins and their siblings have Norwegian roots, while their mother is of French, German, and Italian origins.

Olsen attended Campbell Hall School in Los Angeles. Olsen and her twin sister attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University after graduating from Campbell Hall in 2004.

Personal life

David Katzenberg (son of DreamWorks cofounder Jeffrey Katzenberg), photographer Maxwell Snow, and artist Nate Lowman have all dated Olsen.

Olsen began working with Olivier Sarkozy, half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, in May 2012. Photographs of Olsen sporting what seemed to be an engagement ring were published in March 2014. Olsen and Sarkozy were married on November 27, 2015 at a private residence in New York City. Olsen filed for divorce from Sarkozy on April 17, 2020. Despite delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she filed an emergency order on May 13. A day later, the emergency order was refused. The divorce was finalized on January 25, 2021.

Olsen was a close friend of late actor Heath Ledger. His massage therapist called Ledger unconscious in his bed on January 22, 2008, twice before contacting police. Olsen sent a private security guard to the scene.

"We have provided the government with current information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Davidson," responding to an anonymous law enforcement source's statement that she would not speak to federal prosecutors without the promise of legal privileges." Acting career

When Olsen and her twin sister, Ashley Olsen, were hired to share the role of Michelle Tanner on the famous television sitcom Full House (1987–1995), she began acting at the age of nine months old. She appeared in the films, To Grandmother's House We Go (1992), Double, Double, Toil and Trouble (1993), How the West Was Fun (1994), Billboard Dad (1995), Two of a Kind (1998), and She Does (1994), Both of a Kind (1999). The Olsen twins appeared in a Sister, Sister program in 1997, starring twin actresses Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry.

Dualstar Entertainment Group was established in 1993 to produce Mary-Kate and Ashley-branded products, following Mary-Kate and Ashley's success on Full House. It's been a long line of TV shows and direct-to-video movies starring the girls that have been hugely successful. They appeared in Passport to Paris (1999), Switching Goals (1999), Our Lips Are Sealed (2004), Winning London (2001), and So Little Time (2001–2002).

They became household names and famous figures in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with Mary-Kate's likeness prominent in clothes, books, fragrances, newspapers, movies, and posters, among other things. Mattel produced fashion dolls of her from 2000 to 2005. They appeared in Getting There (2002), When in Rome (2002), The Challenge (2003), and made cameos in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003). In 2015, it was revealed that John Stamos had agreed to produce and co-star in Fuller House, a Netflix spin-off of Full House that would reunite the original cast members for a 13-episode film. However, Mary-Kate and Ashley had already announced that they did not reprise their roles as Michelle Tanner in May of this year. Nickelodeon received the rights to the twins' video library a month before the announcement.

Fashion career

Following a surge of public concern about their fashion choices, the Olsen twins began to work in cooperation on a number of fashion lines that were not widely available to the public. They began selling clothing in Wal-Mart stores around America for girls ages 4 to 14, as well as a beauty line titled "Mary-Kate and Ashley: Real fashion for real girls."

They made news by announcing that all employees of Bangladesh's sew their line of clothing would be given full maternity leave. The National Labor Committee, which arranged the pledge, later lauded the twins for their contributions to worker rights.

Equestrian career

Olsen started horseback riding in 1992 when she was six years old. She was a member of the Campbell Hall's equestrian team during her time there. Olsen briefly stopped riding in New York City before returning to NYU, but she soon returned to the sport, saying, "I returned to the sport because I wasn't riding it every day that I wasn't riding." It was the hardest thing to move away from and the hardest thing to return to." In 2013, her horse Marvelous, ridden by James Anderson, won the 38th Hampton Classic Horse Show.

Olsen is a competitive equestrian. In 2013, she began riding in the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, New York. She appeared at the American Gold Cup in North Salem, New York, on September 17, 2016. She appeared at the Hampton Classic Horse Show from August 29 to September 17: Olsen and her horse Dunotaire V placed in sixth position in the amateur owner jumper (1.20 meter) event, and in third place in the amateur owner jumper classic tournament. Olsen and her horse Feu d'Amour won The American Gold Cup in September 2017. Prem' Dollar Boy and Hertog Van't Merdehof are two horses that she also has named.

Olsen and Dunotaire V were ranked 7 out of 40 in a category at the Palm Beach Masters in Wellington, Florida, in 2018. Olsen appeared on the Longines Global Champions Tour in Madrid, Spain, in May 2019, and she and her horse Naomi finished in sixth place in their class, while her horse Fatum were disqualified from the competition due to a "error of course." Olsen and Fatum, a 1.25 million two-phase showjumping class at the Longines World Champions Tour in Chantilly, France, won a 1.25 million two-phase showjumping class on July 12, 2019. In September 2021, she and her horse Iowa Van Het Polderhof finished in second place in the 2 Phases Special event in Rome, Italy; on September 16, she and her horse, the Iowa Van Het Polderhof, took second place in a Against the Clock No Jump Off competition.
