Early life and career
Mara Rojo was born in Mexico City on August 15, 1943. Enrique Alonso "Cachirulo" began her artistic career at eight years in the program Teatro Fantástico. She began her film career at age 13 in the film Besos Prohibidos in 1955 after appearing in various plays as La Mala Semilla and Examen de Muertos.
She has had a fruitful film career and has appeared in numerous successful telenovelas and theater productions. She appeared in the film El Apando, 1975, for her first starring role. She has appeared in over 70 films and has established herself as one of Mexico's most influential actresses. Maria Rojo served as federal deputy in the LVII Legislature of the Union in the lower house from 1997 to 2000.
She began her role as Borough Chief of Coyoacán in Mexico City on October 1, 2000. She departed from office on April 4, 2003 to seek a seat in the Federal District's Legislative Assembly (legislative Assembly in Mexico City).
