Liv Hewson, the nonbinary star of Yellowjackets, went for an edgy look at the Primetime Emmy Awards, which were held at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday. The 28-year-old entertainer went shirtless underneath a chic black tailcoat with their pronouns embroidered on the sleeve. The Australian native matched the ensemble with black slacks and revealed a unique tattoo on their midriff.

Liv Hewson, who describes herself as non-binary and use they/them pronouns, is anxious about her experience, which included top surgery and the decision to withdraw from Emmys consideration over gendered categories. The 27-year-old Yellowjackets actor recalled always feeling 'an inarticulate pain,' a nebulous pain' in their own body when reflecting on their childhood in Australia. The actor revealed that they were fighting an "very bad" case of anorexia, which resulted from a 'discomfort with and alienation from' their body as they went through puberty. During an interview with Teen Vogue, Hewson remembered clinging to 'feminism and queer history, "searching for answers and community wherever" they 'could find it.' After discovering the word 'nonbinary' for the first time, they said it finally began to 'click into place.' The performer said, 'It was just immediate.' I can't do anything with this,' he said, but it came right back to that.' It's 2012, and I'm 16.'
