Early years

Lauris was born in Dobele, Latvia's little town, and grew up in a musical family. "Tiekas kaimi" (Neighbors Meet) was Lauris' first appearance on Latvian television at the age of 5 years old, performing in a series called "Tiekas kaimi" (Neighbors Meet). Lauris played in a pop-rock band called "AURI" formed by his father as a child and teenager. Lauris gained his first stage experience by being involved in various children's music festivals, competitions, and other musical performances together with this band.

The Reiniks family (mother Dace, father Arturs, sister Ruta) used to be one of the country's most active singing families. They appeared on "Spiets" (The Swarm) on television broadcasting and then toured around Latvia with concerts.

Lauris was discovered by Latvian television in 1988 and was invited to host "No Sples" for a new musical television show (Games of Music Notes).

The performance brought together Lauris and the best known Latvian composer Raimonds Pauls, who had invited Lauris to perform in several of his music projects and recordings. When Lauris realized that he could write his own music and be an independent artist, this collaboration lasted for one year.

In 2000, the management company "Aktiv Music" approached Lauris Reiniks and offered him a contract with Platforma Records. At that time, Lauris stepped into the "large" scene of Latvian pop music and burst, gaining a following.
