Larry the Cable Guy Life

Daniel Lawrence Whitney (born February 17, 1963), better known by his stage name Larry the Cable Guy, is an American stand-up comedian, actor, producer, and radio personality with a 30-year career. (With whom he appeared on Blue Collar TV) Larry the Cable Guy has released seven comedy albums, three of which have been certified gold by the RIAA for shipments of 500,000 copies, as well as in Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, Delta Farce, and Witless Protection, as well as the Cars franchise's voicing Mater.

Whitney's catchphrase "Git-R-Done!"

His book is also named in honor of his authorship. History announced on January 26, 2010 that it was ordering Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, which would tour the country and immerse himself in various lifestyles, occupations, and hobbies.

On February 8, 2011, the first episode of the series premiered.

The series's conclusion aired on August 28, 2013.

Early life

Dan Whitney was born in Nebraska to Tom and Shirley Whitney and raised on an 80-acre farm outside Pawnee City, Nebraska. His father, a Christian minister, was a christian minister. Whitney attended The King's Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, from the 1970s to 1980, where his father was the primary school principal.

Whitney graduated from Berean Christian School in West Palm Beach in 1982. He went to college at Baptist University of America in Georgia, as well as the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He excelled at drama and speech. He owes his Southern accent impression to his roommates from Texas and Georgia. After trying his luck at comedy in junior high school, he dropped out.

Personal life

Whitney and his partner Cara married in 2005. They have a son, Wyatt, and a daughter, Reagan. The Whitney family lives on a 200-acre (73 ha) farm in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 2009, the two established the Git-R-Done Foundation to help those that have suffered from situations that were beyond their control. Whitney is a Christian who recommitted to his faith in 2014.

Whitney's hometown, Pawnee, Nebraska, has a street named after him. Whitney also donated money to purchase new musical equipment for the local high school.

Whitney is a huge Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. As seen in the 2007 film Delta Farce, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln nickname "HUSKERS" is emblazoned on his camouflage hat. He is also sporting a gold Nebraska "N" on a chain around his neck. Whitney was thrown into an arm wrestling match by an Army veteran and Nebraska Army National Guard member John O'Connell, who died in less than a minute due to his arm (humerus) broken by Whitney on October 1, 2016.

Whitney is also a huge REO Speedwagon fan. He appeared at many of the group's fundraisers in 2013 and Illinois for tornado victims.

In September 2010, Whitney donated $5 million to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida. The gift was intended to fund the International Hip Dysplasia Institute at the Orlando hospital. After Dr. Chad Price at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children helped their son, Wyatt, recover from his dysplasia when he was an infant, Whitney and his wife, Cara, donated to the hospital, and Whitney raised funds through appearances on Family Feud and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

In May 2012, the hospital unveiled the Wyatt Whitney Wing, which became the hospital's new wing.

Larry the Cable Guy Career

Career

Whitney began his radio career in the 1990s when he appeared on national syndicated television shows, The Ron and Ron Show, Wakin' Up With The Wolf on WPDH, The Todd and Tyler Show in Omaha, Nebraska, as well as other radio shows such as the Kirk, Mark, and Lopez morning show on WIYY in Baltimore, Maryland. On 98.9/KQRC, Kansas City, he was also a regular visitor on The Johnny Dare Morning Show.

He appeared on WJRR in Orlando, Florida, also. He was brought to New England by Greg and the Morning Buzz on WHEB 100.3 and WGIR-FM 101.1 in Portsmouth and Manchester, New Hampshire, respectively, doing two commentaries a week.

He began performing stand-up under his real name with little success, but after he established the Cable Guy appearance, he now has a strong demeanor throughout his stage appearance. The Cable Guy character has a stereotypical redneck appearance and a thick Southern accent, and he tells stories about his "family" and uses "Git-R-Done," among other common expressions. "Iris, the queen of the United States, lives on her own."

He says in interviews and his autobiographical book GIT-R-DONE that he deliberately "turns on" the accent both on and off stage because if he kept his normal accent intact, he would forget it. He uses comedic humor such as "Lord, I'm sorry for that," and he's in New Guinea with the actor's Pygmies. After jokes that provoke raucous laughter, Amen" after telling jokes of questionable taste; and, "I don't care who ya are, it's funny right there."

Both Lord, I Apologize (2001) and The Right to Bare Arms (2005), two of his first two comedy albums, have been awarded gold by the RIAA. In 2007, Morning Constitutions, a third album, and its accompanying television special were released.

On March 15, 2009, Whitney was roasted in a Comedy Central special.

On February 8, 2011, Larry the Cable Guy's premiere of his latest travelogue series, Only in America, was broadcast on the History Channel. A total of 4.1 million viewers, 1.7 million adults 25–54, tuned in, nearly double the number for the "Top Shot" season 2 opener. Whitney was the first on-air talent from a non-news crew allowed in the War Room, also known as the Command Center, during season two of the series "Larry Goes To Washington." On August 28, 2013, the series's finale aired.

"Mater's Junkyard Jamboree" at Disneyland's California Adventure theme park in June 2012 includes Whitney's voice as his character Mater from the Disney/Pixar Cars films.

Bektrom Foods of North Dakota developed a line of Larry the Cable Guy food items, such as boxed hamburger dinners, with some of the proceeds going to the "Git-R-Done Foundation."

Whitney appeared in season six of The Masked Singer as the show's first human character.
