Career

Murphy first performed stand-up comedy at the Comedy Studio in Harvard Square, Massachusetts, in 1997. Brendon Small teamed up shortly after. They performed sketches and rock operas together until 2001. Murphy's latest live performance is a mash-up of sketches and characters.

Murphy is a well-known voice actor known for his versatility. He appeared on all of the main characters of the Adult Swim comedy series Assy McGee and has contributed to several Soup2Nuts animated films, including O'Grady, Home Movies, and WordGirl. In the animated Fox series Bob's Burgers, he plays Teddy. On the Comedy Central show Ugly Americans, he played Lt. Francis Grimes.

Murphy has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and has reprised his role as "Jay the Doorman" on the Adult Swim live action film Delocated.

He has performed on tour with comedian Eugene Mirman and appears on his 2009 comedy film God is a Twelve-Year-Old Boy With Asperger's, providing the voice of Christopher Walken in a customer service call.
