Douglas Lawrence Osowski, also known as Mr. Lawrence and occasionally Doug Lawrence, is an American animator, writer, and voice actor.

He is best known for his contributions as Plankton, a writer and occasional voice actor for the Nicktoons Rocko's Modern Life, and he's mostly known for his work on SpongeBob SquarePants since 1999.

Career

Lawrence is best known for his writing (and since season 10, story editor) on the animated TV series SpongeBob SquarePants. He also plays long-running character on the show, including Sheldon Plankton and various recurring characters, such as Potty the Parrot (replacing Paul Tibbitt from season ten), Realistic Fish-Head, and Larry the Lobster.

On Camp Lazlo, he was Edward T. Platypus, Nurse Leslie, Dave, and Ping-Pong. Lawrence appeared in Filburt's Modern Life and is the voice of Announcer and Manant in The Aquabats! This is a Super Show! Lawrence is a stand-up comedian, cartoonist, writer-director, animator, and producer of the television show Johnny Talks. In its second season as a layout assistant, he appeared on The Ren and Stimpy Show. He has also worked as an editor on Rocko's Modern Life, The Twisted Whiskers Exhibition, and Mighty Magiswords.

Lawrence performed in New Jersey and Los Angeles, collaborating with comedian Jeremy Kramer and Boston comedy writer Martin Olson. Lawrence was described by Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, a storyboard writer for Rocko's Modern Life and co-creator of Phineas and Ferb, as having a "unique sense of humor" and that one "would need to know Doug to know (or not understand)" his style, according to him. Lawrence's humor theories and decisions, according to Marsh, "remain a mystery to us forever."

Ryuichi Sakamoto, the renowned composer and former member of the Yellow Magic Orchestra, has died at the age of 71. He leaves behind an extensive discography featuring early rock and synth-pop hits with his band Yellow Magic Orchestra, which also included Haruomi Hosono and the late Yukihiro Takahasi, as well as several film scores for masterworks including Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, The Last Emperor, and The Revenant. Sakamoto died on Tuesday, March 28, but his death wasn't announced on his website until Sunday.
