Yuri Lowenthal Career

Voice-over career

Lowenthal migrated to Los Angeles and spent time in live-action and theatre roles. Tara Platt and his partner took a voice-over class taught by Rick Zieff to complement their on-camera work. Zieff later appeared to be directing the English dub for an anime show named SD Gundam Force; he earned his first ever anime dub role, then moved into other anime roles, as well as other voice-over work in animation, advertisements, and video games. Lowenthal recalled that his first voice appearance in a video game may have also been for SD Gundam Force.

Lowenthal's first major role in video game voice-overs was as the Prince in Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. In an interview with Critical Gamer, he describes the role as "a very lucky break for me" because it ended up being a super game. We audition for all sorts of projects, and video games are a part of that, which I love. "[He] felt] that [he] in a way originated that position," he said. Lowenthal did not return to voice the Prince in Warrior Within, being replaced by Robin Atkin Downes. Lowenthal felt that this was a conscious decision taken by Ubisoft to participate in the game's overall tonal shift and that it was the correct call. He reprised his role in The Two Thrones as fans had revealed their preference for the character's portrayal. The Prince was one of Lowenthal's favorite roles, and he was delighted to return to his role in The Forgotten Sands. Lowenthal said that his well-received appearance put pressure on him in future games as he continued to be true to and improve on his original portrayal. After The Sands of Time, he had no creative freedom with his character. The staff wanted a different representation of the Prince in the live-action films to Lowenthal's, and so recast the role.

Lowenthal continued to perform in other anime series, including lead character Haru Glory in Rave Master, which had a run on Cartoon Network's Toonami line up. In Zatch Bell, he also portrayed a character. On Cartoon Network, the program had a good run. He appeared in a number of anime series, including: Girls Bravo, where he starred Yukinari, Scrapped Princess, Kyo Kara Maoh, where he sang Yuuri Shibuya, and Saiyuki Reload, where he sang Son Goku. He tried out for numerous roles, including Sasuke Uchiha and Iruka, before being rejected for Naruto, which was being directed by the same individual who did Rave Master. "It certainly encourages me to visit some unknown places in an interview with Silionera," Lowenthal said in an interview with Silionera. And it makes Sasuke even more interesting as a character. And playing makes it so much more enjoyable." The Naruto anime became one of the most popular anime shows in the United States, and its sequel Naruto Shippuden has also aired on Adult Swim.

In the anime film Afro Samurai, which starred Samuel L. Jackson as the title character, Lowenthal was portrayed as Jinnosuke, aka "Kuma." Lowenthal said in an interview with Eastern Kicks that what he liked about Jinno was that he "starts off as one guy and ends up in a very different, very dark location." In addition, I have to kick Sam Jackson's assassination. And they keep taking him back from the dead to play again. And he's a twin-word-wielding cyborg death machine with a massive teddy bear head.

What's not to like?"

He also said that they did not film the voicing for Afro Samurai separately so he did not get to meet Jackson personally until a release party for the related video game years later. Lowenthal's voicing, according to Luke Carroll of Anime News Network, was a "good result," but not enough to make it more than a normal dub at best."

I thought the voice acting was fine. Lowenthal would reprise his role in the 2009 film Afro Samurai: Resurrection. "The action sequence is still top-notch, and Jackson, [Lucy] Liu, Lowenthal, and company are on the money," Newsarama's Steve Fritz wrote.

Suzaku Kururugi, who appeared on Adult Swim, and Gurren Lagann, who appeared on Toonami, were among other lead roles in anime.

Lowenthal received the role of Superman in the cartoon series Legion of Superheroes in 2006. Superman makes his way to the 31st century to help superheroes battle the Fatal Five villains. Lowenthal recalled that he read for Lightning Lad and Brainiac 5 in the original audition and was asked back to do Superman in an interview with The Oklahoman. He had started reading for Superman and Brainiac 5 before the producers pulled him out. He was later told that he was the primary protagonist, and that they did not have to worry about him on other topics.

In 2008, Lowenthal introduced Ben Tennyson, a 15-year-old boy, into Ben 10: Alien Force. Alien Force's premiere, five years since the initial series, set new ratings for Cartoon Network in its key demographics. Ben Lowenthal was given by series director Glen Murakami, who had worked on Teen Titans: In Tokyo. Murakami advised Lowenthal that Ben be less of a wisecrack than his 10-year-old persona, and he did not want Ben to "veer into the whining, Luke Skywalker" early in the show, and did not want him to "veer into the whining, Luke Skywalker." The show was revived for a second season, and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, which appeared from 2010–2012, and Ben 10: Omniverse, which ran from 2012–2014, was followed by Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. Ben's age was raised to 16 years old in Omniverse. Lowenthal said he didn't know how popular the show was outside of North America until he went to Australia, England, and Ireland, where he saw kids wearing Ben 10 clothing. He also said that before the Ben 10 panel, he was able to walk the halls unbothered, until the Ben 10 panel, which he later described as "poor." Lowenthal has appeared in The Swan Princess Christmas (2012), where he was the voice of Prince Derek, and then in 2014 with The Swan Princess: A Royal Family Tale, where he reprised the main role. He appeared on these films as the screenwriter on Christmas and Royal Family Tales.

In Persona 3 and Yosuke Hanamura for Persona 4, Lowenthal provided the protagonist's voice. Cecil Harvey appears in the Nintendo DS version of Final Fantasy IV as well as in Dissidia: Final Fantasy on the PSP. Hayate / Einstein appears in the Dead or Alive series. In Saints Row: The Third and its sequel, Matt Miller, the leader of the Decker family, appears. He starred and provided the motion-capture performance for Spider-Man/Peter Parker in Sony's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020), and had previously appeared in Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020). Lowenthal's friend, Kirk McKeand, described him as "the man you've killed the most" for his participation in over 200 video games.

Acting and production career

Lowenthal has been involved in many live action projects with his company Monkey Kingdom Productions alongside his wife Tara Platt. They created Con Artists, a mockumentary that chronicles some of their convention visits, which became a staple. At the Accolade Film Festival, they made Tumbling After, a psychological thriller film that received an Award of Merit. Lowenthal and Platt created Shelf Life, a web series in which they appear as action figures in a Toy Story-like setting but with more adult humor. In an interview, Lowenthal said that he wanted to make a show for nerds: "I wanted to make the kind of thing that my friends and I would watch." It's got the four S's: Sex, Social analysis, Slapstick, and Superheroes. They made Topsy McGee vs. the Sky Pirates, a short steampunk-themed film that was an official selection at the New York City International Film Festival in 2014. He was a finalist at the Dragon Con Independent Short Film Festival in the steampunk category.

Lowenthal appeared in Van Von Hunter, a live action mockumentary co-directed by Tokyopop founder Stuart Levy, based on the comics of the same name. He plays a sword-swing barbarian from a fantasy world who is thrown into Earth and is cast in a sword and sorcery film in the film. The film was included in many film festivals, and it was a formal selection at the Fantasia Film Festival and a special audience award at MockFest 2010. At MockFest, Lowenthal received an award for his best character as well.

He co-wrote the screenplay for The Arcadian, a film by Dekker Dreyer that was influenced by 1970s and 1980s underground science fiction comics. In 2015, he appeared in Wil Wheaton's Titansgrave as a leading cast member, where he portrayed a character named S'Lethkk. Geek & Sundry are a cable television network. Glenn Lauder appeared in Keith Arem-produced film The Phoenix Incident, about four guys who were trying to track the Phoenix lights UFO sightings and finding the aliens attacking them. At film festivals, the film was nominated and commended. He is supposed to appear in Any Bullet Will Do It, a British film starring Mark Ryan and was shot in Montana.

It's like Behind the Mic, by He and Platt, which was published in 2010. Keith Ikeda-Barry co-authored Tough City, a comedy-noir novella that was also published as part of a 72-hour novel writing competition. In 2013, it was announced. He began releasing the novella in 2016 as part of a weekly podcast series.

Marvel also announced a new multiplayer game pitting fan-favorite heroes and villains together. On the forthcoming game Marvel Rivals, the superhero powerhouse teamed up with NetEase Games, which is composed of makers of multiplayer blockbusters like Call of Duty and Battlefield. Marvel Rivals is a multiplayer game run by a team of six people competing to seize territories and capture resources, similar to Overwatch and Apex Legends. Iron Man, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Loki, Magneto, and Scarlet Witch will all be able to play on PC. At least 12 of those characters will be playable in a closed alpha test that starts in May. There are no official launch dates for the complete game.
