Career

Kwak debuted as an actor in the 2014 film Glorious Day. It was his first major role in the film 2014 Night Flight. Persevere, Goo Hae-ra, was his first appearance in the music drama.

Starhaus Entertainment revealed Project One O One on October 1, 2015, releasing their debut single "Love You." Kwak, as well as fellow Starhaus actors Ahn Hyop, Song Won-seok, and Kwon Do-kyun are among the group's members.

Kwak gained a following after appearing in the hit romantic comedy drama Oh My Ghost, portraying a chef who seems to be offended but is actually sweet. He appeared in daily drama All is Well and joined reality show We Got Married, where he was paired with actress Kim So-yeon.

In 2016, Kwak appeared in Mirror of the Witch, his first historical drama. He received his first major role in SBS's 2016 drama Second to Last Love, which earned him the New Star Award at SBS Drama Awards.

In 2017, he appeared in TvN's fantasy-romance drama Chicago Typewriter as Yoo Ah-in's adversary. He made a special appearance in KBS' romantic comedy drama Fight for My Way.

In 2018, Kwak appeared in The Witness and also in the romance thriller Four Men, a prequel to the 2017's Man to Man.

Kwak appeared in the war film The Battle of Jangsari in 2019. Yu Min-hyuk, a time traveler, appeared in SBS' Alice as a time traveler in 2020.

Kwak appeared in the SBS historical-fantasy drama Lovers of the Red Sky in 2021. He joined the JTBC drama Idol: The Coup that year. After his deal with the previous agency came to an end, Kwak signed a drawing Entertainment deal in September 2021.

He played barista Gong Soo-cheol in the KBS2 drama Café Minamdang in 2022.
