Ji Chang-wook Life

Ji Chang-wook (born July 5, 1987) is a South Korean actor who rose to fame in the role of Dong-hae in the daily drama series Smile Again (2010–2011) and has since appeared in Warrior Baek Dong-soo (2011) and Empress Ki (2013–2014).

The K2 (2016) and Suspicious Partner (2017), as well as crime-action film Fabricated City (2017), are among Chang-wook's most popular television series Healer (2014-2015).

Personal life

On August 14, 2017, Ji began his mandatory military service. At Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, he obtained his basic military service at the Army's 3rd Infantry Division. On completion, he received a prize for his outstanding work.

To complete the remainder of his military service, Ji was posted in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province. He was appointed as a Platoon Chief and was elevated to Corporal. He was then promoted to Sergeant. On the 27th of April 2019, Ji was discharged.

Career

Ji began his musical career. He made his onscreen debut in the 2006 film Days and appeared in a small role in the 2008 television drama You Stole My Heart. He debuted in 2008 through the film Sleeping Beauty.

He appeared in My Too Perfect Sons in 2009, playing the timid, youngest brother who winds up raising his best friend's daughter at just 20 years old. Over 40% of the weekend family drama received over 40%. He then took on a supporting role in the action-comedy Hero.

Ji appeared in his first lead role in the 159-episode daily drama, Smile Again, as a Korean-American short track speed skater. Smile Again dominated the ratings for 15 weeks in a row, and he was named "Best Actor in a Daily Drama" at the KBS Drama Awards.

In 2011's historical-action film Warrior Baek Dong-soo (2011), he played the titular role. It's based on Lee Jae-heon's book Honorable Baek Dong-soo's biography, detailing his youth before political intrigue developed a rivalry with his childhood best friend-turned-enemy. Ji received a "New Star Award" at the SBS Drama Awards, and the series soared in its timeslot for 13 weeks. Later this year, he was in charge of the cable drama The Bachelor's Vegetable Store, which is based on Lee Young-seok's true story of the young man who turned a tiny 350-square-feet vegetable store in 1998 into a national franchise with 33 stores.

Ji played a pianist who wished for his older brother's natural gift for music on his first antagonist role in the melodrama, Five Fingers (2012).

Ji returned to musical theater in 2013 with The Days, playing a presidential bodyguard who went missing 20 years ago alongside a mysterious female companion. The Days were a jukebox musical featuring Kim Kwang-seok's folk rock hits.

In the historical drama Empress Ki, Ji's breakthrough came as a result of his role as Toghon Temür (also known as Ta Hwan). Throughout the series, the drama received solid viewership ratings around the country, with an average rating of 35.12%. Ji's performance left a good impression on both the critics and the audience, earning him critical praise and esteem.

Ji then appeared in Healer, an action-thriller television series (2014-2015). After the drama's airing, Ji became famous in China and other parts of Asia. He performed in Mandarin-language dramas like The Whirlwind Girl 2 and Mr. Correct.

Ji starred in tvN's action thriller The K2, a bodyguard who is betrayed by his fellow soldiers and falls in love with a teen with PTSD and apparent sociophobia in 2016. During its 8-week broadcast, the drama received high ratings, despite trouncing cable channel viewership ratings. He co-starred in First Seven Kisses, a promotional web-drama film produced in November 2016.

In 2017, Ji appeared in Fabricated City, playing a workless game addict who becomes a framed murderer. He appeared in SBS' romantic comedy thriller series Suspicious Partner as a prosecutor in the same year.

Following his release from military service in 2019, Ji was cast in Melting Me Softly, where he played the role of a television presenter who was 20 years old in the role of a struggling human-freezing venture.

Ji was cast in Backstreet Rookie, a romantic comedy film based on a webtoon of the same name in 2020. He played the role of a former public relations director of convenience store franchises who ended up owning his own convenience store. He appeared in the City's romantic comedy web series Lovestruck, which premiered on Kakao TV in December 2020.

In 2021, he appeared in Kim Chang-ju's thriller film Hard Hit, playing a cryptic caller who blackmails the protagonist and his family with a bomb planted inside the vehicle.

Ji appeared in The Sound of Magic, based on a webtoon of the same name, in 2022, as mysterious magician Lee Eul. He appeared in the KBS2 drama If You Wish Upon Me in the role of an ex-convict who volunteers at a hospice in the same year.
