Kim Jong-kook (born April 25, 1976) is a South Korean singer, comedian, and actor.

In 1995, Kim debuted as a member of South Korean duo Turbo.

The pair was thought to be one of the most popular idols of that period, and they sold out millions of albums in South Korea and Asia.

Kim released Renaissance, his first solo album following the duo's disbandement in 2000. Kim has received numerous accolades, including three Golden Disk Awards, two Seoul Music Awards, two KBS Music Awards, two MBC Music Awards, two MBC Music Awards, two MBC Music Awards, two MBC Music Awards, one Mnet Asian Music Awards, and one Melon Music Award. Kim began his fame as an entertainer outside of his music career, including X-Man, Family Outing, and Running Man.

Kim is the uncle of singer Soya. Kim is known as one of his close friends, with Jang Hyuk, Cha Tae-hyun, Hong Kyung-min, and Hong Kyung-in. Since they were all born in 1976, the dragon's year, the five boys were nicknamed the "Dragon Brothers."

Kim underwent lumbar microdiscectomy surgery on August 27, 2010 to repair a herniated disk. "Kim Jong-kook continued with his daily activities unaware that he had a ruptured disk," Kim's 102 Entertainment said. Despite this, he did feel pain but didn't think about it, and he continued his pain by using painkillers while filming SBS Running Man."

Kim Jong-kook first entered the Korean music industry in 1995 as a member of the infamous duo, Turbo, which became extremely popular for their catchy songs. After the band disbanded a few years ago, he became a solo guitarist in 2001, mainly focused on ballads.

Kim Jong-kook suffered with a setback after Turbo, having trouble settling down as a solo artist. The first album as a solo artist failed due to a lack of songs by composers, less funding from his respected company, and also a change in the fan base. However, he made a good comeback with his second album Evolution in 2004, which resulted in the hit single "One Man." Kim later became a permanent cast member of the famous variety game show X-Man, which in turn boosted his fame.

This Is Me, Kim's third album, came out in 2005. The album debuted over 300,000 copies and became one of Korea's best-selling albums this year. The lead single, "Lovable," dominated various music charts, and was included in online games such as Pump It Up and Audition Online. Kim received the Daesang (Artist of the Year) Award from three major Korean television broadcasters, SBS, KBS, and MBC, making her second artist to achieve this feat since Cho Yong-pil in the 1980s.

Kim was named in charge of Shootdori's first series, in which kids who are interested in soccer form teams and compete. However, after receiving an enlistment notice, he had to leave the team. He also enjoyed success in China, where he regularly topped polls such as being named the best Korean singer on the Chinese streaming site Tudou and being ranked second most popular Korean male celebrity on Baidu.

Kim made a comeback to the music market on November 1, 2012, with the release of his seventh studio album, Journey Home, following a preview of selected songs from his latest album. Haha and Gary co-starred in the album, as well as former Running Man actor Song Joong-ki, who appeared in the lead single "Men Are All Like This." He began to host Crisis Escape No. 1 in the same year. At the 2013 KBS Entertainment Awards, he received the "Best Entertainer Award" for his first appearance.

He formed Running Man Brothers, a running Man brothers duo formed in 2014 with fellow Running Man cast member Haha. In July and December, the musical pair appeared on stage in the United States.

Kim made his official acting debut in The Producers in 2015, and was praised for his "solid acting chops."

He left Urban Works ENT after his employment had ended in September 2015. In October 2015, he went on to sign an exclusive deal with Maroo Entertainment.

In December 2015, he and fellow Turbo enthusiasts Kim Jung-nam and Mikey reunited for Turbo's 20th anniversary album. Again was released on December 21, 2015. On its debut, the eponymous lead single, which stars Yoo Jae-suk, topped online music charts.

He made his singing debut in China on August 23, 2016 with his debut single, "Hate That Happiness Came" (), produced by JJ Lin and lyrics written by Vincent Fang.

Kim made history by becoming the first male celebrity and the second person to win a Daesang in both Music and Entertainment on December 19, 2020. He received the Grand Prize Award (Daesang) at the 14th SBS Entertainment Awards for his involvement in Running Man and My Little Old Boy.
