Kevin Schmidt Career

Life and career

Schmidt was born in Andover, Kansas. Kendall Schmidt, a singer and actress, is his brother.

Schmidt did not intend to work in the entertainment industry at first. After his two brothers, Kenneth and Kendall, found success as actors in Los Angeles, California, as a football player and a student, Schmidt was unable to begin acting but was advised not to begin auditioning. Schmidt was ten years old when he began to book a number of guest appearances and appeared on a number of prime time television shows including NCIS, Bones, Without a Trace, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Monk. Schmidt also had success on the big screen. In addition to his appearance in Cheaper by the Dozen and its sequel, Schmidt co-starred with Ashton Kutcher in The Butterfly Effect and Kristen Stewart in Catch That Kid. Schmidt transitioned to leading roles in Resurrection Mary and Alvin: The Squeakquel.

Schmidt, who suffered with his own weight loss at the age of 17, reminisces about fitness and wellbeing on his debut project, The Alyson Stoner Project. The pair created an instructional musical and fitness hybrid that incorporates the use of dance moves as a form of exercise, teaming up with friend and Cheaper by the Dozen co-star Alyson Stoner. The initiative was designed to teach children the benefits of exercise, diet, and making healthy lifestyle choices.

In addition, Schmidt is producing The Great Migration, an animated film directed by Rob Minkhoff; he is directing the film alongside Dave Minkhoff, director of Disney's film The Lion King. Kendall Henderson, Sebastian Henderson, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson appear in the film.

Schmidt is a promoter of aquaponics and hopes to aid in reducing hunger and obesity around the world.
