Life
Siegel was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. She attended St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland and graduated from Syracuse University in 2004. Siegel is Jewish. Siegel said in 2008 that she was bisexual and had been in affairs with other women before. In early 2016, she married director Mike Flanagan. They have two children, Cody and Theodora, named after Siegel's appearance in The Haunting of Hill House. She is the stepmother of Flanagan's eldest son from his previous marriage.
Career
Siegel made her acting debut in the film The Curse of The Black Dahlia, which was released on January 23, 2007. That year, she went on to star in Hacia La Oscuridad, which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28, 2007. Ruby Dee and Chelsea Handler were also on Steam. Siegel appeared in Ted Collins' short film Knocked Down in 2008. Cheryl made her television debut in Ghost Whisperer in 2009. Rachel Hollander appeared in Numb3rs in 2010. She appeared in a Castle episode later this year. She appeared in the dramatic-thriller Wedding Day the previous year.
Siegel was the first male to attend Man Camp in 2013. Flanagan wrote and directed Oculus in the same year. Siegel played Theodora Crain in the Netflix supernatural horror film The Haunting of Hill House, based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel of the same name. She narrated the podcast Calling Shadows and has performed on The NoSleep Podcast as a voice actor.
