Kate Siegel (born August 9, 1982) is an American actress and screenwriter.

Siegel is best known for her appearances in her horror films Oculus (2013), Hush (2016), and Gerald's Game (2017), which she also co-wrote.

Siegel has appeared in the Netflix supernatural horror series The Haunting of Hill House (2018), and her voice has appeared on the horror podcasts Calling Darkness and The NoSleep Podcast.

Life

Siegel was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. She attended St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland and graduated from Syracuse University in 2004. Siegel is Jewish. Siegel said in 2008 that she was bisexual and had been in affairs with other women before. In early 2016, she married director Mike Flanagan. They have two children, Cody and Theodora, named after Siegel's appearance in The Haunting of Hill House. She is the stepmother of Flanagan's eldest son from his previous marriage.

Siegel made her acting debut in the film The Curse of The Black Dahlia, which was released on January 23, 2007. That year, she went on to star in Hacia La Oscuridad, which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28, 2007. Ruby Dee and Chelsea Handler were also on Steam. Siegel appeared in Ted Collins' short film Knocked Down in 2008. Cheryl made her television debut in Ghost Whisperer in 2009. Rachel Hollander appeared in Numb3rs in 2010. She appeared in a Castle episode later this year. She appeared in the dramatic-thriller Wedding Day the previous year.

Siegel was the first male to attend Man Camp in 2013. Flanagan wrote and directed Oculus in the same year. The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2013 and was released in April 2014. She appeared in a Mob City episode earlier this year. In 2014, she appeared in Demon Legacy.

It was announced in November 2015 that she and Flanagan would be converting the young adult book 13 Days to Midnight into a film.

In 2016, Siegel appeared in Hush, a horror thriller in which she also co-authored with Flanagan, a deaf-mute woman beset by a killer. On March 12, 2016, the film made its world premiere at South by Southwest and was released on Netflix on April 8, 2016. In July 2016, she appeared in a commercial for Stelara psoriasis cream. Siegel appeared in Ouija: Origin of Evil, also directed by Flanagan, which was released on October 21, 2016.

Siegel appeared in Stephen King's Game's film version in 2017, which was also directed by Flanagan. Netflix released the film on September 29, 2017.

Siegel played Theodora Crain in the Netflix supernatural horror film The Haunting of Hill House, based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel of the same name. She narrated the podcast Calling Shadows and has performed on The NoSleep Podcast as a voice actor.

Siegel co-starred her castmate from The Haunting of Hill House, Henry Thomas, portraying Erin Greene in Netflix's Midnight Mass, written and directed by Flanagan.
