Early life
Sillas, the daughter of a Greek father and a Swedish mother, was born in Brooklyn. At Purchase, she graduated from the Acting Conservatory of the State University of New York.
Career
Sillas appeared in Hal Hartley's 1992 film Simple Men. She appeared in What Happened Was..., which received the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and launched Sillas into primetime television in 1994. Rose Phillips, the only female detective in a otherwise male-dominated squad room, was the subject of CBS' critically acclaimed detective series Under Suspicion.
