Kai Hansen Life

Kai Michael Hansen (born January 17, 1963) is a heavy metal guitarist and singer. Hansen is the founder, lead guitarist, and vocalist of Gamma Ray, a power metal band.

He is also a founder and member of Helloween, a German metal band.

He is a well-known figure in power metal and has sold millions of albums around the world.

He is regarded as "the godfather of power metal" who has formed three seminal bands in the genre.

He formed the band Unisonic in 2011, which also included former Helloween vocalist Michael Kiske.

Hansen and Kiske reunited with Helloween in 2017 for a world tour with all current members, commemorating the album Keeper of the Seven Keys Parts I and II's 30th anniversary of release.

Early life

Kai Hansen was born in Hamburg in 1963. Kai took an interest in music at the age of ten and began playing wash-drums. His parents, on the other hand, didn't like the noise and bought him an acoustic guitar instead. He took a six-month classical guitar course and, after it, formed his first band with his classmates after buying an electric guitar, a white Ibanez Les Paul.

Kai Hansen Career

Career

Hansen's musical career began in 1978 in a band called Gentry, alongside Iron Savior co-founder and producer Piet Sielck. He and Michael Weikath founded Helloween, where he was a guitarist and singer before Michael Kiske took over the microphone for the album Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part I and Keeper of the Seven Keys. Part II. Hansen left the band after a lengthy tour in 1988-1989 and went on to form his own power metal band Gamma Ray. Hansen appeared on Iron Savior in 1997 but decided against it after a few years to concentrate on Gamma Ray. He has now had a fruitful career with Gamma Ray, releasing many albums and playing sold-out tours around the world.

Hansen has worked on a variety of other initiatives. He appeared as a guest vocalist on Blind Guardian's albums Follow the Blind and Tales from the Twilight World. In the song "Never Understand," he and fellow Gamma Ray bandmate Dirk Schlächter collaborated on Angra's first full-length album Angels Cry, both playing guitar solos. In 2004, he appeared on Angra's album Temple of Shadows, singing "The Temple of Hate" as a performer. He appeared on Michael Kiske's debut solo album Instant Clarity with ANGRA. He produced a cover version of Helloween's "I Want Out" with HammerFall as a team.

In Tobias Sammet's Avantasia's Metal Opera albums, Hansen played Regrin the dwarf. In the song "Shelter from the Rain," he appeared on the album "The Scarecrow Playing Guitar." After more than 20 years since he left Helloween, he was one of the guest artists in Avantasia's 2010 world tour, which prompted him to perform live with fellow ex-bandmate Michael Kiske. Hansen would join his new band Unisonic after this tour, as they "instantly felt the magic of Helloween years back and had a lot of fun together on and off stage."

In 2005, he toured with the young German power/Viking metal band Stormwarrior from Hamburg as the lead singer and featured content from his legendary Helloween debut album Walls of Jericho, Stormwarrior's most popular album and largest influence. Kai Hansen, the star of "Stormwarrior" returned to Bad Arolsen in 2007 to compete at the Magic Circle Festival and the Wacken Open Air Festival.

Hansen performed with Stormwarrior at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2008.

Hansen formed the Unisonic band in 2011 as the second guitarist and reunited with long-time friend and ex-Helloween singer Michael Kiske, who formed the band in 2009. In 2012, the band unveiled its debut album, Unisonic, and embarked on their first world tour. Hansen said in an interview that despite being a member of Unisonic, he will not have less focus on Gamma Ray, and that the new Gamma Ray album should be released in 2013. Light Of Dawn, Unisonic's second album, was released in 2014, and a European and Japanese tour followed.

Hansen recruited Frank Beck as their second vocalist for the Gamma Ray in 2015 after the Best of the Best Party Tour.

Hansen's debut album XXX – Three Decades in Metal, was released in 2016. On September 16, the album was released on earMUSIC for the first time in the same year.

Kai Hansen performed minitour, four shows in Slovakia and Czech republic with the band Ravenc law, with special set for Ravenclaw 15-Years Anniversary - Ravenc law feat. Kai Hansen is a student at the University of Kai Hansen.

The Pumpkins United World Tour, a concert tour of the German power metal band Helloween, was announced on November 14, 2016. Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen, two former tour participants, were among the current tour participants for 2017, 2018, 2018 and 2019.
