Rudolf Schenker (born 31 August 1948 in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony) is a German guitarist and founder of the hard rock band Scorpions, as the rhythm guitarist, primary songwriter, and longest-serving original member.
Career
Schenker has been one of the band's most influential driving factors since its inception as a child in 1965. He has been Scorpions' most consistent member, appearing on every album and every tour. Michael Schenker, his younger brother, was a member of the Scorpions in the early days before joining UFO.
In 2000, Schenker was given the City of Hanover Plaque as well as the Cross of Merit First Class of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit.
