Kendall Jenner and her sister Kendall Jenner were almost unrecognizable on the Marc Jacobs autumn 2022 runway, with bowl-cut mullet hairstyles and bleached eyebrows, where they walked down the catwalks in oversize, deconstructed silhouettes, and sky-high white Mary Janes platforms. Jenner wore a blue cable-knit jacket with another matching jacket tied around her waist, tucked over a white button-down shirt and a white vinyl skirt. Gigi Hadid had a similar style, although she wore a ribbed-knit jacket in an eye-catching shade of pink with a grey vinyl skirt. Marc Jacobs' penchant for volume and layering unexpected pieces together was on display, as well as on Bella Hadid, who was dressed in a voluminous black-and-white sleeveless ball gown with a bulbous waist and a bustle. The collection began with a Matrix-style midi dress in blue vinyl, then turned into a trio of gray, green, and lavender shades resembling hospital scrubs. Could it be a reference to Roe vs. Wade's recent overturning by the Supreme Court? I suspect so. Fashion for Jacobs has always reflected the times we live in. "We present our choices in comparison to the continuing brutality and ugliness of a world beyond our insulated but not impermeable walls," the designer said in the show notes. The following essays explored themes of warmth through oversize sweater silhouettes; Victorian-era dressing through voluminous ball gowns; and current dress codes by the use of denim and tailored silhouettes.
