Jon Kevin Freeman Jr. (born April 13, 1985), better known by his stage name Jon Connor, is an American rapper and producer.

Connor has released various mixtapes and an album effort during his career including the Jay-Z inspired The Blue Album, and the Eminem inspired The People's Rapper LP.

He has released one studio album, Unconscious State.

He is best known for being signed to Dr.

Dre's Aftermath Entertainment from 2013 to 2019, where he did not release a single album.

In 2015 he was featured on Dr.

Dre's album Compton as well as The Game's album The Documentary 2.5.

Early life

Jon Freeman Jr. was born on April 13, 1985 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mahley and Jon Freeman Sr. His father, a musician turned Christian minister, served as his earliest musical influences. Jon Connor has stated that he grew up listening to Genesee County acts such as Top Authority, The Dayton Family and MC Breed.

He graduated from Flint Powers Catholic High School.

Musical career

Jon started songwriting at the age of ten. He began selling his own mixtapes out of his backpack and in the trunk of his mother's vehicle in middle school. He formed All Varsity Music at age 14 with the help of his mother. By 16, he had funded and built an in-house studio with funds earned from odd jobs in the neighborhood.

Jon Connor's first official mixtape, The Calling, Pt., was released on January 1, 2005. Prequel 1: The Prequel. In 2006, he continued with another mixtape Everybody Hates Connor. The Calling Pt., Then's third mixtape. 2: The Second Coming of 2008. Kendall "Young Sav" Freeman, vice president of rapper Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group record label, will join basketball player Mateen Cleaves, then basketball player Jason Richardson, and finally basketball player Kendall "Young Sav" Freeman, announced a record label in 2009. Jon Connor unveiled The Blue Album, a mixtape starring him rapping over various Jay-Z songs from his three Blueprint albums, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse, and The Blueprint 3. The mixtape title refers to Blue City Club, a club he leads, as well as a play on words. The group includes Mickey Wallace, Caas Swift, Brandon Bars, Lia Mack, and D. Wayne, who are all prominent on the mixtape. He told MTV that he wrote the entire mixtape in four days. Jon Connor's second installment of his "Best in the World" mixtape collection, The People's Rapper LP, features him solely rapping over classic Eminem instrumentals. Don Cannon executive produced and hosted the mixtape, as well as featuring guest appearances by his Blue City Club colleagues. The People's Rapper album was given rave reviews, with Andres Vasquez of HipHopDX calling it "EP-worthy." Following the unveiling of The People's Rapper LP, Connor and rapper Big K.R.I.T. traveled to the Midwest United States.

Connor's eighth mixtape, Whether You Were Sleeping, was released on July 26, 2012, and Killa Kyleon was among others' guest appearances. Unlike his previous two albums, While You Were Sleeping featured all original instrumentals by Connor and his production staff, The World's Best Music, Optiks and Brix. During You Were Sleeping, Connor's most reflective work to date. The mixtape was given a positive review by Edwin Ortiz of HipHopDX. Jon Connor performed with American rapper Xzibit, who led to him meeting legendary producer Dr. Dre in late 2012.

In early 2013, Jon Connor revealed that he was working on various projects, including debuting, his debut studio album Unconscious State, followed by Unsung Heroes LP, a joint venture with rapper Chris Webby's second studio album, and a collaboration album with Ski Beatz. Jon Connor of All Varsity Music unveiled Unconscious State on July 2, 2013. Danny Brown, Chris Webby, Freddie Gibbs, Royce da 5'9", Talib Kweli, and Smoke DZA among others were among the album's guest appearances. Connor himself, Mr. Porter, Brix, and Optiks were among others who took control of the project. The album was sponsored by the singles, "Michigan Shit" starring Royce da 5'9" and "Rise Up" starring Talib Kweli. On its debut, the album reached number 35 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Albums and number seven on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums charts, peaking at number 35.

Jon Connor had just been in the studio with Dr. Dre on July 20, 2013. Connor told MTV that the two people immediately had chemistry in the studio, and that, after working with each other for the next month, Dre signed Connor to his record label Aftermath Entertainment, which is distributed by Interscope Records. Jon Connor revealed he had signed to Dre's Aftermath Entertainment at the taping of the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards on September 29, at the end of his freestyle during a cypher. "I was wondering, "How can I end this?" He said before.

This was my first attempt at making it a moment. "Yo, that's dope," I ran it by Dre, who was like, "that's dope." By XXL, his freestyle at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards was highly lauded, including being named as the third best of the night.

Connor unveiled another installment in his "Best in the World" series on March 18, 2014, The Late Registration of a College Dropout Who Had a Dark Twisted Dream of 808s and Heartbreak. He released another mixtape, BestInTheWorld: A Tribute To The Notorious B.I.G. Connor raps over beats from The Notorious B.I.G.'s Vol 1, which takes place on April 14, 2014. Songs.
