John Franklin Life

Born John Paul Salapatek, 1959) and Cousin Itt in The Addams Family (1991) are two American actors best known for playing Isaac Chroner in Children of the Corn (1984).

Early life

He was born John Paul Salapatek, a southern suburb of Chicago, on June 16, 1959. Franklin had a growth hormone deficiency as an infant, and as a result, his adult height is "barely 5 feet," or about 152 centimeters.

John graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in 1977. He earned a BFA in theater and teaching at the University of Illinois in 1983.

Career

In 1983, John Franklin moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a career in acting. He appeared in commercials before being successful in auditioning for the role of Isaac in Stephen King's Children of the Corn.

Franklin went on to appear in two episodes of "The Leprechaun" and "Space Case" on Children of the Corn. He appeared in several commercials before guest starring Highway to Heaven as Arnie, a physically impaired teenager running away from home. During the 1988 film Child's Play, he appeared on "Walkabout Chickeny" during the 'Good Guy' doll commercial.

Franklin played Cousin Itt in The Addams Family in 1991; he reprised the role in 1993's Addams Family Values. Franklin appeared on several television shows, including Chicago Hope and Star Trek: Voyager, throughout the 1990s. In George B.'s independent 1997 film George B. and with Steve Guttenberg in Disney's TV film Tower of Terror the same year, he co-starred.

Franklin in 1999, he starred in Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return, co-writing the script with his cousin Tim Sulka. In 2000, he appeared in Python for a small part and co-starred as Morluv in The Christmas Secret.

Franklin was a teacher at Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, California.

He explained,

Franklin revealed to the students and staff of Golden Valley High School that he would no longer be teaching to pursue his career as a writer and actor at the end of the 2015-16 school year. He was later discovered to be working on several projects, including a young adult novel.
