Jim Sarbh (born 27 August 1987) is an Indian film and stage actor.

He is best known for his support for the Hindi Film Industry, is the recipient of a Screen Award, an International Film Academy Award, and two Filmfare Award nominations.

Sarbh has also appeared in numerous theatre productions in India. Sarbh appeared in Ram Madhvani's critically and commercially acclaimed biographical film Neerja in 2016; the role earned him accolades from critics and others as well as a Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination and a Screen Award.

Following his appearance in the thriller A Death in the Gunj (2016), he came to fame for his role as the antagonist in the period drama Padmaavat (2018) and the biographical Sanju (2018), both of which are among the top-grossing Indian films of all time. Sarbh has appeared in theatre performances, particularly those based in Mumbai, in addition to his film career.

He has drew notice for his appearances in Death of a Salesman, Rajat Kapoor's What's Done Done, and Kalki Koechlin's Living Room, which attracted a lot of attention in 2013.

Bull made his directorial debut in 2014.

Jim Sarbh was born in Bombay, Maharashtra, India, on August 27th, 1987, into a Parsi Zoroastrian family. His mother is a retired physiotherapist, and his father, a retired master mariner, is the Regional Director of P&O Ports South and Middle East Asia. Sarbh's family immigrated to Australia from India when he was three years old and returned to Bombay when he was eight years old, where he first attended Bombay International School in South Mumbai and then the American School of Bombay in Bandra, West Mumbai. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He lives in Versova, Mumbai, India.

Career

Sarbh spent a year as a literary intern at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. In the 2009 revivals of such plays as The Show!, The Breakup, Tennis in Nablus, and Ice Glen, he appeared around Atlanta; the last of the roles won him a major Support Role Metropolitan Atlanta Theatre Award. Sarbh returned to Mumbai in 2012 and began performing in local theatre productions. Several commentators paid attention to Happy Loman's 2013 revival of Death of a Salesman. Sarbh continued to perform in Mumbai-based plays, including Rajat Kapoor's What's Done, Rage Productions' The Merchant of Venice, Vickram Kapadia's The Merchant of Venice, Kalki Koechlin's Living Room, and then made his directorial and writing debut with the 2014 film Bull and Eat respectively. In 2015, he was ranked in Forbes India's Top 30 Under 30 for his contributions to the Mumbai theatre industry.

Sarbh made his debut film with Ram Madhvani's 2016 biographical drama film Neerja. In 2016, Yashodhara and Daria Gai's 3 12 Takes were among his other debuts. He appeared in Akshat Verma's short film Mama's Boys and Gouri Dutt's Like Summer Like Rain.

Sarbh had two Bollywood films in 2017: the thriller A Death in the Gunj and the romance film Raabta. He appeared in Natasha Mendonca's debut directorial film, Ajeeb Ashiq, an independent film that focuses on gender and human sexuality. Various film festivals around Europe showcased the film. In Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 epic romance Padmaavat, he appeared as Malik Kafur, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh. He appeared in the Netflix film House Arrest in 2019 and the following year in Yeh Ballet, another Netflix film.

He appeared in Bejoy Nambiar's Taish on ZEE5 in 2020.

In 2022, he appeared in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi as Amin Faizi, webseries Rocket Boys as Homi J Bhabha and Eternally Confused and Eager for love as a Wiz, a voiceover.
