Jiah Khan (born Nafisa Rizvi Khan, 20 February 1988 – 3 June 2013) was a British-American actress and singer who worked in Bollywood cinema.
She appeared in three Hindi films from 2007 to 2010, and was raised in London. She was the niece of Pakistani actresses Sangeeta and Kaveeta.
Khan always aspired to do well as acting and moved to Mumbai for a film career.
In 2007, Ram Gopal Verma film Nishabd, she made her film debut and was nominated for Best Female Debut, which was a prize in the 2007 Ram Gopal Verma Filmfare Awards.

Early life
Jiah Khan was born in New York City, United States, to Ali Rizvi Khan, an Indian businessman, and Rabiya Amin, a Hindi film actress from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in the 1980s. When she was two years old, Khan's father left the family. "A man who left his daughter when she was two should be hanged in public," despite her father's absence. Kavita and Karishma are two of her younger sisters. Hina Rizvi, Sangeeta (Parveen Rizvi), and Kaveeta (Nasreen Rizvi) are her paternal aunts.
Khan grew up in London, where she completed her Edexcel O level and A level with five As before heading to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. After watching Ram Gopal Verma's former protege Urmila Matondkar's film Rangeela at the age of six, she was inspired to join Bollywood.
Khan attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Manhattan and left after being rejected a film role. She discovered a variety of dance styles, including belly dancing, kathak, lambada, jazz, samba, and reggae.
Career
Khan accepted to act in Tumsa Nahin Dekha's Tumsa Nahin Dekha in 2004, but after that time, she and the director decided the job was too young for her; Dia Mirza came to replace her. Khan made her debut in Ram Gopal Verma's tumultuous romantic drama Nishabd in 2007, where she performed opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Despite the film's provocative content, it did not do well at the box office and received mixed feedback from critics. Nonetheless, Khan received mainly positive feedback for her performance, with critics referring to her optimism, attitude, and sex appeal. Raja Sen praised Jia, a seductive, free-spirited teenager, by calling her appearance "nuanced" and "impressive." Taran Adarsh confirms that "Newcomer Jiah Khan is extremely confident." The newcomer plays her part with flourish, with a cheerful demeanor and sex appeal.Her scenes with Bachchan are superb!"
Rajeev Masand continues to be "perfectly cast" for the film. She was also nominated for a Best Female Debut Award by Filmfare, but she was disqualified for Om Shanti Om by Deepika Padukone.In A.R., she appeared alongside Aamir Khan and Asin for the next year. The psychological thriller by Murugadoss Ghajini, the Hindi translation of its namesake, is a hit. Aamir Khan played Sunita, a medical student who analyzes Sanjay Singhania's past. Critics were extremely appreciative of the film, and it went on to become the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2008. Khan's performance attracted mixed reviews, with some commenting that her role was "sketchy." When director Ken Ghosh asked her to leave the film and be replaced by Genelia D'Souza, Khan had almost finished shooting of Chance Pe Dance opposite Shahid Kapoor. The producer said she became over-friendly with Kapoor and was not doing her job well. Khan, on the other hand, said she was told not to leave because the producer had a shady eye on her. When D'Souza arrived on the scene for firing, Kapoor said he wanted to know about the replacement. Kapoor also stated that he had no involvement in Khan's replacement. However, the film was a box office flop, and Khan said she was able to leave the film. In Sajid Khan's Housefull, a unified cast led by Arjun Rampal, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, and Lara Dutta made her last film appearance in the ex-wife of Akshay Kumar's character. Housefull received critical feedback upon its debut, but her results were much appreciated. The film, on the year, did very well and became the highest grossing Bollywood film of the year. Khan had appeared in a few films, including Udhas Singh's Aap Ka Saaya in which she was supposed to play Ranbir Kapoor's wife. Sadly, this film was never finished.
