Jeff Bass Career

Career

Bass, a 16-year-old boy, and four of his childhood friends formed Dreamboy, a Detroit-based R&B band. Dreamboy was signed to Qwest Records in 1980, a record label established by Quincy Jones the same year. The group's debut album was released in 1983, as well as a 1984 sequel before their deal came to an end, and they were barred from the label in 1985.

Bass will eventually coproduce the album "Life Yourself" with Eminem, which was voted Best Original Song at the 75th Academy Awards. The song appeared in the film 8 Mile, which starred Eminem in his first film role. The Slim Shady LP, Eminem and Bass's 1999 Best Rap Album, was given a Grammy Award for 1999's Best Rap Album. Bass appeared in "Public Service Announcement" and "Public Service Announcement 2000" (both from The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP), two songs that double as introductions to the albums they are featured in.
