Jaak Urmet Life

Jaak Urmet (pseudonym: Wimberg, born on January 30, 1979 in Saku) is an Estonian writer. Jaak Urmet studied Estonian philology and history (from 1997 to 2002) at the Tallinn Pedagogical University and (2004), a M.A. Urmet participated in Tallinn's Tallinno Noored Tegijad (a youth author fellowship in Tallinn) from 1998 to 2000 and is a member of Tartu Noorte Autorite Koondis since 2000.

Urmet is a member of the Tallinn Club of Bibliophilic Fiction (2004-2005) and the Estonian Union of Writers. Urmet began publishing articles, reviews, and essays in 1999.

With the collection "Maaaraamat," he made his debut as a poet in 2000.

He served as the editor of Arkaadia, a cultural enrichment of Eesti Päevaleht from 2001 to 2007.

The novel "Lipamäe" by Wimberg (Urmet's) (which was included in the 2002 Estonian national competition and the Virumaa prize of literature in 2002) is a postmodernist tale about a young man who migrates from urban to rural after his grandfather's death.

The novel is a blend of realism and phantasy: autobiographical reflections on the last decade of the Soviet era in a countryside alternate with magic present (e.g. e.g. (Devil is the devil, one of the main characters).

The festival takes place in a real location in Järvamaa, Kaaruka. "Maaaraamat" and "Kärppsed") in Wimberg's poetry collections represent autobiographical viewpoints.

Wimberg's works employs (his own) Estonian words as a source of orthography.
