Hugo Ferreira Life

Hugo Ferreira (born March 7, 1974) is an Angol-born Portuguese-American singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

He is best known for his role as the lead singer and songwriter for Tantric's American rock band.

Merge's beginnings and the establishment of Tantric are among Merge's.

Hugo Ferreira was born in Luanda, Angola, which at the time was a Portuguese colony, to Portuguese colonial settlers. Following Angola's independence in 1975, his family migrated to Hudson, Massachusetts, the United States. Hugo began playing the piano at the age of 5. He began researching and composing music at the age of 14 years old, according to his biography.

Ferreira was a member of wedding bands, dance music companies, "off-tune" rock bands, and Portuguese folklore groups before becoming a more mainstream artist. After graduating from Hudson High School in 1992, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he formed the band Merge with Paul Hemsworth. The band self-released a record and a six-song tape over the course of four years.

Todd Whitener, bassist Jesse Vest, and drummer Matt Taul, all from Days of the New in November 1998, began looking for a vocalist for a new band. Ferreira, a few years as friends with the former members of Days of the New, appeared to perform with them while in his band, Merge seemed to make sense for him to audition for the bands Whitener, Vest, and Taul were emerging. Ferreira auditioned and was accepted into the band in March 1999.

Ferreira and his new bandmates performed under the moniker Carbon 14 (C-14), shortly after being accepted into the group. They later learned that bands with numbers in their names were playing out and changed the band name to Tantric after Buddhist sexual activities.

Ferreira said about his band switch, that he felt he needed a change. "The bass player was working at Hooters cooking wings," Ferreira said with a grin, and "you don't want to know what the drummer was doing."

He continued, "We were way beyond broke." "All I had was a television and a VCR, and I sold them to pay for the U-Haul's ride to Louisville." I was in charge of running a bar at a cheesy beach resort and winning karaoke competitions singing Frank Sinatra songs against toothless drunks with names like Billy Bob Joe."

"I lost weight, but there was the Ethiopian thing going on, with the skinny arms and the stomach thing happening." Ferreira said that it was worse for his bandmates. "These guys had to swallow a great deal of pride."

Tantric's live on Maverick Records was caught eight months later, and the band soon signed a contract that allowed them to have the funds to produce a solid and healthy album. The album was recorded in Nashville by producer Toby Wright, who produced the album.

Tantric's debut album was released and completed by October 2000. The album was released on February 13, 2001. The album reached number seventy-one on the Billboard 200 charts and became the number one Mainstream rock hit with the single "Breakdown." Two more singles followed, "Astounded" and "Mourning." Both songs did well. Ferreira went on tour with Tantric in support of the album, performing with the likes of Creed and Kid Rock.

Ferreira performed With the remainder of the band in 2003 when they joined Tantric's sophomore studio album titled After We Go. Tantric finally released the lead single of their new album titled "Hey Now" on December 9, 2003, following a difficult recording process triggered by their name. Ferreira's second studio effort with Tantric was announced after We Go was announced on February 24, 2004, making it Ferreira's second attempt.

Ferreira's debut on Tantric III, the company's third studio album, was supposed to be called Tantric III, in 2005. The album was supposed to be released in May 2006 but was postponed due to Tantric's release from Maverick Records on Ferreira's birthday on March 7, 2006.

On May 8, 2007, three songs from Tantric III were published on the band's Myspace page, but guitarist Todd Whitener's departure from the band the same day was largely overshadowed. Ferreira's resignation made him the band's only remaining founding member after Jesse Vestal's retirement in 2005. Matt Taul was arrested on drug charges and could no longer tour, and then Todd Whitener's dissatisfaction with the band's inability to thrive led him to leave Tantric, but not for long. Ferreira, the sole original member of Tantric III, was shelved indefinitely, but Ferreira expressed the possibility of releasing some of the songs out to fans for free as a thank you. Ferreira leaked three songs called "Letting Go" and "Fall Down" with hip-hop band Nappy Roots, which includes hip-hop group Neppy Roots.

Ferreira formed "State of the Art" with former Fuel and Puddle of Mudd members in late May 2007. The band produced an album, but the album was only available on the band's Myspace page, making it scarce and impossible to find.

The new Tantric members will be elected by the members of the State of Art.
