Haruka Nakagawa (born February 10, 1992) is a Japanese singer and actress based in Indonesia.

She is a former member of AKB48 and its sub-unit Watarirouka Hashiritai, as well as its Indonesian sister company JKT48, all produced by Yasushi Akimoto.

Personal life

Nakagawa revealed in 2011 that her father is a veteran wrestler, sparking rumors that he is Koji Nakagawa of the Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling promotion, despite the latter's deniment; it's revealed much later that his name is Shoji Nakagawa (). Nakagawa's daughter died when she was younger and her siblings used to live with their grandmother, and she and her siblings used to live with their grandmother, according to her Instagram page, and she hasn't been in touch with her grandmother.

At the age of 28, her sister died on May 4, 2019.

Nakagawa revealed on March 5th, 2020 that she was raised in foster care and had previously denied that her upbringing would negatively impact her career.

Career

Nakagawa participated in an audition for the addition of a 3rd Generation AKB48 member, and was accepted by AKB48 Team B on December 3, 2006. She was renamed to Watarirouka Hashiritai with Ota Aika and Watanabe Mayu, her 3rd generation coworkers, in October 2008.

The AKB48 personnel were reorganized on the night of Yomiuri Shimbun AKB 104 Senbatsu Matsuri's 135th birthday. Nakagawa has been a member of Team A (AKB48) since October 2009 and has been playing upstage as a member of Team A since July 2010. AKB48 announced the reorganization of its teams on August 24, 2012, the first day of its Tokyo Dome concert series. Nakagawa and Aki Takajo were sent to Jakarta to support AKB48's sister group, JKT48.

Nakagawa had officially transferred to JKT48 as the new AKB48 project began on November 1, 2012, the first AKB48 formation. Diversified Events on RCTI on December 9, 2012, was her first appearance as a member of JKT48. Nakagawa was included in Team J alongside Takajo and all of JKT48's remaining first generation participants at Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex on December 23rd, 2012. On the first day of Renai Jourei's appearance at JKT48 Theater on December 26, 2012, Nakagawa performed with Team J.

Nakagawa has appeared in about 20+ TV commercials and multiple TV dramas in Indonesia in the last year. "Fortune Cookie Yang Mencinta" (Koisuru Fortune Cookie, "The Fall-in-Love Fortune Cookie") MV, which was released on August 21, 2013, she also had the center position for JKT48's "Fortune Cookie Yang Mencinta" (Koisuru Fortune Cookie, "The Fall-in-Love Fortune Cookie) MV. Nakagawa also showed her fellow JKT48 classmates the other hand by assisting her in teaching and guiding her students. Her perseverance has made her accepted, well-known, and loved in the culture.

AKB48's sub-unit Watarirouka Hashiritai held their last concert on February 9, 2014, and the sub-group finally broke down. She joined 4 Gulali, JKT48's first sub-group from JKT48's founding on December 28, 2014. Previously, the officials requested the supporters to help with the #NAMAHARUKAPROJECT (Haruka's Project Name) tag on Twitter. Members and costumes for the club were chosen and approved by Nakagawa herself. They performed their single "Chu Chu Chu Only For You" (Kimi Dake ni Chu).

Nakagawa did not want to return to Japan after graduating from JKT48, not only graduated from JKT48 but also graduated from the 48 Group. Nakagawa's graduation from JKT48 took place on December 30th on the old Team T's "Hold My Hand" and a new Team J. Nakagawa began her solo career as a product and actress under dentsuXentertainment's care and control after graduating from JKT48.

Brandwatch, a social media analytics company, has named her one of the Top 10 "Most Influential Women on Twitter" in 2016, 2017 and 2017, ahead of Britney Spears, Oprah Winfrey, and Alicia Keys. She is the only Japanese person on the list.

She has been named in 2018 as both an ambassador of the "Commemoration of 60 Years Diplomatic Relations Between Japan and Indonesia" and also the ambassador of Goodwill between the two countries.
