Career
In 2013, Gong made his acting debut in the web series After School: Lucky or Not with the help of 5urprise – a talent agency founded by Fantagio. Splendid Politics (2015), SBS romance–comedy drama Entertainer (2017), and MBC romantic comedy series Drinking Solo (2016). He appeared on MBC reality show We Got Married in 2016, where he was paired with actress Jung Hye-sung.
In 2017, Gong was the leading actor in the two-episode drama The Happy Loner, which aired on KBS2. In the fantasy-romance drama The Bride of Habaek and a Kwon Jae-hoon in tvN drama Revolutionary Love, he played Bi-ryeom: Lord of the Sky.
In 2019, he appeared in the adventure film Extreme Job as Jae-hoon, the youngest member of a team of detectives. The film opened in South Korea, grossing 10 million ticket sales in fewer than 15 days. It is currently the second most viewed film in South Korea's history. He received six awards for his work, winning two of them. He appeared in the historical film Homme Fatale and JTBC TV series Be Melodramatic later this year.
After his deal with his previous management company came to an end, Gong signed with new management firm Saram Entertainment in April 2020.
In 2021, Gong appeared in the historical-fantasy drama Lovers of the Red Sky, which aired on SBS. He portrayed Grand Prince Yangmyeong, a leisurely prince who is an expert in painting, calligraphy, and poetry. Later this year, he became a cast member of the third season of the tvN travel variety show House on Wheels.
In the Kim Han-min's war action film Hansan: Rising Dragon, Gong appeared as commander Yi Eokgi in 2022.
