Gina Torres (born April 25, 1969) is a Cuban-American television and film actress.
She has appeared in several television shows, including Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: The Warrior Princess, and the short-lived Cleopatra 2525, Alias, Firefly, Angel, 24, Suits, The Shield, and Westworld.
As of 2019, she has been playing the titular role on the drama television series Pearson.Torres starred as Carla in the independent film South of Pico (2005) and in a reprise of her Firefly role in the feature film sequel Serenity (2005).

Early life
Torres was born at the Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital in Manhattan, the youngest of three children. Her family lived briefly in Washington Heights before deciding on The Bronx. Her parents, who were born in Cuba, and her father worked as a typeetter for La Prensa and the New York Daily News. Torres speaks fluent Spanish.
Torres, a mezzo-soprano, began singing at an early age and attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. She has also studied in opera and jazz, as well as appearing in a gospel choir. Torres had applied and been accepted to numerous colleges but they couldn't afford to attend. She decided against going after her ambition of being a performer instead.
Personal life
Torres and Laurence Fishburne were engaged in February 2001 and married on September 22, 2002 at the Cloisters museum in New York City. They have a daughter together, and they have a daughter. Torres was also the stepmother to Fishburne's two children, from his previous marriage to actress Hajna O. Moss. On the show Hannibal, Torres and Fishburne played a married couple.
Torres resigned from Fishburne in September 2017. Fishburne filed for divorce on November 2, 2017, and the divorce was finalized on May 11, 2018, after Torres and Fishburne signed a final deal on April 16, 2018.

Torres received the ALMA Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Syndicated Drama Series in 2001 for her role in Cleopatra 2525.
Torres was nominated for the International Press Academy's Best Achievement by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Drama, in 2004 for her role as Jasmine in Angel. The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003) were two of her film appearances.
