www.dailymail.co.uk, July 27, 2024
There are now growing fears that an extraordinary population boom is turning the previously 'hassle free' metropolis into the next San Francisco, a worldwide symbol of urban decay. Soaring house prices across the county have sparked a sudden surge in evictions as locals are driven out of their homes. Now, homeless encampments have started to plague downtown streets, causing a spate of vandalism more commonly associated with West Coast cities.

As a result of a side hustle, the home owner, 52, makes £6,000-per-year, renting out his unused city centre parking space to visitors and builders

In central Brighton, a 52-year-old homeowner makes more than £6,000 a year by renting out his unused parking space. Tourists and builders can park in Gary Jones' designated parking space at his apartment in the city centre for £21 a day. For 2023, the language school director was YourParkingSpace's top earner, making £6,462 last year. In 2021, he started the 'low maintenance' business and now regrets that it was empty for four years.
