Lorenzo Fernando Lamas (born January 20, 1958) is an American actor.

Lance Cumson, Angela Channing's irresponsible grandson, played by Jane Wyman, is best known for his role in the soap opera Falcon Crest (1981-1990), for which he received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film. Reno Raines (1992–1997), and Hector Ramirez in the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful (2004–2006), Lamas appeared as a judge on ABC television's Are You Hot?, a series about his real-life family.

Early life

Lamas was born in Santa Monica, California, son of Argentine actor Fernando Lamas and Norwegian American actress Arlene Dahl. He is the stepson of swimmer and film actor Esther Williams, who married his father when Lamas was 11 years old. Both Williams and Dahl were best friends of actress Jane Wyman (who knew him from birth) and would later work with Lamas on Falcon Crest. In 1971, he was born in Pacific Palisades, California, and migrated to New York City. He took up Taekwondo in 1979, in addition to Shotokan Karate, Ju jitsu, and Aikido, who earned black belts in each. In 1975, he graduated from the Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, New Jersey.

Personal life

Lamas have married five times and have six children. Victoria Hilbert (1981–1982) was his first marriage. Michele Cathy Smith, his publicist, with whom he had two children, Alvaro Joshua "A.J." (b) b. b. Shayne (b. 1983) and her daughter Shayne (b. 1998). Both actors appeared in 1985. Lamas appeared on Renegade co-star Kathleen Kinmont from 1989 to 1993. Shauna Sand (who made guest appearances in Renegade) became Lamas' fourth wife in 1996. This decision was prompted by the fact that Shauna Lamas' previous wife, Shauna Lamas, kept the surname Lamas and is legally named Shauna Lamas, and that current bride Shawna, who gave her a homonym and almost identical name, does not want to have a virtually identical full name. Lamas requested divorce from his fifth wife in June 2018, citing irreconcilable differences.

In April 2020, Lamas began dating Kenna Scott. In February 2021, the two got engaged in Las Vegas. In May 2022, the wedding was supposed to take place in Napa Valley.

Career

When Lamas approached his mother and said, "I want to be a star...I mean, an actor," he said. "I heard you for the first time, son," she said with a smile.

Lamas began studying acting in Tony Barr's Film Actors Workshop and shortly thereafter gained his first television appearance in 1976. Lamas's last-minute replacement for Steven Ford earned a non-speaking role as a jock in the 1978 film Grease, in which he dyed his hair blond. Lamas appeared in a variety of television shows, including Switch, Sword of Justice, Dear Detective, The Secrets of Midland Heights, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, and Hotel, during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Lance Cumson was auditioned for and received the role of Lance Cumson in 1980's The Vintage Years. The pilot was later retooled to become the hit prime time drama series Falcon Crest, which aired on CBS for nine seasons from December 4, 1981, to May 17, 1990. Lamas revealed that during a 2006 TV interview with a Norwegian television company that he auditioned twice and beat out five other actors for the role. Lamas was nominated for a Golden Globe and two Soap Opera Digest Awards for his work on the series; he was the only actor to appear in all 227 episodes.

Lamas was the lead actor in the poorly received film Body Rock (1984), where he was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor during his tenure on the show. He also performed a song on the film's soundtrack, and his album "Fools Like Me" became his first single to crack the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #85. John J.B. Wilson, the co-founder of the Golden Raspberry Awards, later named Body Rock as one of "The 100 Most Bad Movies Ever Made."

Lamas began carving out a niche for himself as an action hero by appearing in films such as the Snake Eater (1993), Gladiator Cop (1995), Terminal Justice (1996), and several other low-budget action-films. Lamas starred in Reno Raines (a falsely accused cop) in the syndicated series Renegade, which allowed him to explore his passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles as well as martial arts from 1992 to 1997. During the show's fifth and final season, it went from first-run syndication to the USA Network, and it was seen in more than 100 countries. During this time, Lamas had been growing his hair (past his shoulders), so he had to have it cut short after the fourth season of Renegade, so he had to wear a long-haired wig for filming of the final season. Hector Ramirez, the fourth generation of Lamas' soap opera, joined the Bold and the Beautiful in 2004, and stayed on the show until 2006.

In August 2007, Lamas appeared in The King and I at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine. In the title role in Steven Dietz's Dracula, he appeared on Kean University Premiere Stages in Union, New Jersey, in the fall. He appeared in The Fantasticks at the Casa Maana Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas, in June 2008. In June 2009, Lamas returned to the Ogunquit Playhouse as Zach in the Achorus Line.

In 2015, Lamas appeared on the reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice as a cast member.

As of 2016, Lamas was flying people on day trips from Los Angeles to the Grand Canyon. He is currently flying with HeliNY in New York City as a helicopter tour pilot, according to his Twitter account.
