Frank Wolf Life

Frank Rudolph Wolf (born January 30, 1939) is a former legislator who served Virginia's 10th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives as a member of the Republican Party from 1981 to his resignation in January 2015.

He declared in December 2013 that he would not run for re-election in 2014 and resigned at the end of his 17th term in office.

He was the state's longest serving congressman, serving for 34 years in a row at the time of his induction.

Frank Wolf Career

Early life, education, and early political careers all played a role.

Wolf, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, overcame an early speech disorder that caused him to stutter. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and obtained a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., while attending Pennsylvania State University. He then joined the United States Army as a reservist and became a military advocate.

Wolf began politics in 1968, when he became a legislative assistant to Edward Biester, the Republican congressman from Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district, at the age of 29. Wolf served as an assistant to Interior Rogers Morton's Secretary from 1971 to 1975.
