Fátima Lopes, ComIH (born 8 March 1965) is a Portuguese fashion designer.
Early life
Fátima is a Portuguese word that means "today" comes from Madeira, Portugal. She was born and grew up in Funchal's capital city. She showed an early interest in fashion and started designing her own clothing as an adolescence, unhappy with what the stores had to offer in terms of clothing. She worked as a tourist guide for a local travel company because she was fluent in English, French, and German.
In 1990, Fátima moved to Lisbon, where she felt she might be able to pursue a career as a fashion designer. She opened "Versos," which sold mainly international designer clothing. She was with a friend. The boutique changed its name to "Fátima Lopes" in 1992, and in that year the Fátima Lopes brand was launched. She appeared in a fashion show in a Lisbon convent in September (Convento do Beato), where her work was widely lauded.
"Salon du Prêt-à-Porter Feminin" in 1994, she unveiled her collection in Paris. Two years later, she opened her first international store in Paris, located in the historic rue de Grenelle. At the same time, she began to diversify her collections by making bags and shoes for both men and women.
She began the operation of "FACE MODELS" in Lisbon in December 1998.
In 2000, she made a media sensation by appearing on a catwalk in Paris wearing the world's most expensive bikini, made from gold and diamonds, worth one million dollars. In 2003, she opened her first retail store in the United States, located in Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles' city.
She worked on the development of the official suit of the Portuguese football World Cup team in 2006.
