Jill Stuart Career

Career

By the age of 15, Stuart sold her first collection to Bloomingdale's, suede hobo bags, silver and leather chokers. In 1988, she opened her first store on the Upper East Side, emphasizing accessories such as belts and handbags. Her stolens, bags, and fur accessories were also available in Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores by 1990. Skinclothes was the mother of her eponymous brand, a collection of leather items such as slip dresses, kilts, jeans, and jackets.

Items from her collection were included in the 1995 film Clueless. Stuart's designs were available in Bloomingdale's stores in the United States the following year.

Stuart began opening shops in Japan, including branches in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kobe, as well as concessions in more than 70 outlets around the country. The brand was sold in South Korea later this year. Lindsay Lohan was photographed by Mario Sorrenti in 2007 as the brand's ambassador in Japan, causing a lot of controversies.

According to data, the brand in the United States is expected to have annual sales of about $30 million, with more Asian sales of nearly $100 million. Hilary Swank, Kate Bosworth, and Leighton Meester are among the customers.
