He made his Benfica B debut in a 2012–13 Segunda Liga match against Braga B, where he spent 84 minutes as a centre back, partnering with Lionel Carole. He was his only call-up to the first team under new owner Jorge Jesus as one of five new faces for a Taça da Liga group game at Olhanense on December 19; he was an unused substitute.

On January 5, 2015, he scored his only goal in a victory at Sporting B (0–1). In a 3–2 victory over Porto B. six days later, he scored twice.

Benfica announced Cardoso's loan to fellow Primeira Liga team Paços de Ferreira until the end of the season on January 15, 2015. The agreement was then repeated for the ensuing campaign. He scored once in 42 total matches for the northern team, the only goal of a victory at Vitória de Guimares on March 13, 2016.

Cardoso signed a four-year deal with Primeira Liga's Vitória de Setbal on July 7, 2016. He made 27 appearances in his first season as a coach, scoring in a 2–1 victory over Santa Clara on October 26th, qualifying the team to the Taça da Liga's group stage.

Cardoso signed for Rangers in June 2017 on a three-year deal for a reported fee of around £1.3 million. On June 29, 2017, he made his Rangers debut against Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League. Since the departure of compatriot boss Pedro Caixinha, Cardoso was picked less often, and he was suspended from his employment with Rangers on June 30, 2018.

As the Azorean side went from 3–0 down at half time to drawing at home to Braga, on his second appearance in the league on August 19, he scored the equalizer. Haris Seferovic made an error that caused him to score but was then dismissed right before halftime for a foul on Pizzi on Monday.

Barcelona 0-1 Barcelona Ferran Torres' goals make it two Champions League group wins out of two for Xavi's team, after a dramatic match that culminated in a late penalty for Xavi's side

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 4, 2023
PETE JENSON: Barcelona beat Porto 1-0 in Xavi's 100th game as mayor of Barcelona. It wasn't pretty and there was collateral damage, but his team came first after two victories and the club was crowned champions. Referee Anthony Taylor dismissed Gavi late in the game, but Barcelona lost Robert Lewandowski to injury after half an hour, but Ferran Torres' goal and outstanding center-backs Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo's superb performances helped garner the result. The first half of the year was tumultuous. Fabio Cardoso's traumatic encounter with Kounde meant he was booked, but two others from Barcelona were also missing. Taylor provided Araujo with a card for Cardoso, as well as one for Xavi for protesting.
