Emma Hatton Life

Emma Hatton (born 6 April 1983) is a British actress and singer who appeared in Wicked's West End production.

Donna has also worked on stage and theatre appearances, including Meat and Scaramouche in We Will Rock You, as well as Donna in Dreamboats and Petticoats.

In 2017, she played a leading role in the Bill Kenwright touring production of Evita.

During her UK and European tour, she toured as a featured vocalist with the legendary retro rotating music group Postmodern Jukebox.

Early life

Hatton grew up in Coleford, Gloucestershire, attending St. John's Primary School and Lakers School. She loved performing from an early age, beginning dance lessons at the age of three years at Broadwell's Jane Jarrett School of Dancing. Hatton studied at Monmouth Sixth Form and discovered her passion for theatre in the Lakers School production of Grease and starring in Anything Goes and Daisy Pulls It Off as part of the Forest Theatre Musical Society. She studied English and Sport Science at Loughborough University, but after performing so well, she was inspired to spend a year at the London School of Musical Theatre.

Hatton, a youngster, was a natural performer on a long and triple jump at county and national level. She appeared in 1999 for her home county, Gloucestershire, at the English Schools Championships in Bury St Edmunds, where she came in fifth place.

Stage career

Hatton came from LSMT, but she made her West End debut and played Donna in Dreamboats and Petticoats in 2009. For a while after this, she performed mostly minor theatre roles, but when cast in the ensemble of We Will Rock You in late 2011, she was understudying the role of Scarmouche. She decided to remain for a second year and then understudied Meat, as well as Scaramouche.

Hatton performed in Wicked on October 5th, 2013, and she joined the cast of Wicked on December 2nd, becoming standby in the role of Elphaba. Hatton discovered herself playing the role more often in April 2014 than Verkaik due to a long-back injury. On July 21, 2014, she briefly appeared lead Elphaba, but she returned to being standby after being replaced by original British Elphaba Kerry Ellis on August 2nd. On September 3rd, she appeared at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in Wicked for her 100th performance.

Following the departure of American Elphaba Jennifer DiNoia on January 31, 2015, Hatton would take over Elphaba permanently on October 3rd. It was announced on July 17, 2015, that she had extended her role as lead Elphaba until at least August 2016.

Hatton would appear in her final appearance as Elphaba on September 3, 2016, according to the newspaper on May 19, 2016. For the tenth anniversary of the show, Elphaba Rachel Tucker, a long-running West End Elphaba, was replaced.
