The family of a Brooklyn bicycle who died after being hit by a 26-foot box truck sues the city for $100 million

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 28, 2023
Sarah Schick, 37, died after being struck by a box truck on Ninth Street in Brooklyn's Gowanus neighborhood last month, and now her family is suing New York City for $100 million. Attorney Sam Davis said her death may have been avoided if improved safety precautions had been in place. Bicyclists are forced to share the bike lane with cars and trucks along the Ninth Street stretch. A 'die-in' by walkers and bicycles near the city where Schick was killed as a growing memorial can be seen overflowing with flowers and photographs. The unprotected portion of Ninth Street's sidewalk has since been redesigned later this year, according to Department of Transportation officials.
