Elhaida Dani Career

Life and career

Elhaida Dani was born in Shkodr, Albania, on February 17th, 1993, into an Albanian family of the Muslim faith. She began singing at the age of four and later took piano lessons. She later studied musicology at the University of Arts in Tirana. Dani made her first forays into music in 2009 after winning a variety of music festivals, including Star Academy, Sundance Skale, Festivalul George Grigoriu, and Nova Musica. Following her ineffective participation in the 50th edition of Festivali i Kng with the song "Mijra vs," she attempted to represent Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in December 2011. She was selected as the winner of the ninth edition of Top Fest in June 2012 with the song "S'je m."

Dani enrolled for the first season of The Voice of Italy's "Mamma Knows Best" for judges Piero Pelù, Raffaella Carrà, Riccardo Cocciante, and Noemi in March 2013. We advised all four coaches not to leave their positions and compete as one of Team Cocciante's co-leaders. Dani earned high marks during her tenure on the show and then went on to win the final in May 2013 with over 70% of the votes. She signed a new deal with Universal Music, the Italian subsidiary company of Universal Music.

Dani was selected to participate in the 53rd edition of Festivali i Kng, by the radio broadcaster Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH), as one of the contestants selected to compete in the prestigious edition of Festivali i Kng with the song "Diell." She was crowned champion of Festivali i Kngs and was then named Albania's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Dani announced that she had changed her song to "I'm Alive" after being selected, despite the composer's reversal of "Diell." Albania qualified for the grand final in the first semi-final and ultimately finished in 17th place with a total of 34 points.

She has been called by Riccardo Cocciante and Luc Plamondon to perform Esmeralda in the world renown musical Notre Dame de Paris in 2016. And since 1996, she has been touring around the world. She appeared in Kunga Magjike in December and finished in second place with 988 points. Dani, a three-year absence, created her second extended play Zanin in September 2021, which she co-created with Albanian writers and producers, including Alban Kondi, Elgit Doda, Endrit Mumajesi, and Kledi Bahiti.
