Edmund Patrick "Eddie" Cahill (born January 15, 1978) is an American actor best known for his role in "Miracle on Ice" goalie Jim Craig in the film Miracle and for his portrayal of Tag Jones in Friends and Detective Don Flack in CSI: NY.

Early life
Cahill was born in New York City, New York. He is the middle of three children, with an older and a younger sister. He is of Irish descent from his father, a stockbroker, and an Italian descendent from his mother, an elementary school coach.
Cahill graduated from Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York, in 1996. He attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, and the Atlantic Theater Acting School, which is part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
Personal life
Cahill's longtime girlfriend Nikki Uberti married him in Los Angeles on July 12, 2009. Uberti is a makeup artist, former model, and ex-wife of photographer Terry Richardson. In 2009, the couple had a boy.

Career
Cahill appeared in The Altruists, Nicky Silver's Off-Broadway version, in 2000. Sarah Jessica Parker noticed him immediately after he made several television appearances including Sex and the City, Felicity, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Cahill appeared in NBC sitcom Friends as Rachel's young assistant and boyfriend, Tag Jones. Glory Days, a short-lived WB drama set in 2002.
Cahill had the opportunity to portray his boyhood hero, goalie Jim Craig, in the 2004 hockey film Miracle. Craig had never been ranked before the film, so the majority of Craig's game-action sequences were shot with former NHL goalie Bill Ranford doubling for Cahill, although Cahill did shoot several key scenes from within goal.
Cahill was hired to play Don Flack, the cocky, snarky detective who leads up CBS's team and who has some of the best lines, when the team was assembled in 2004 to produce CSI: NY, to add to its line. He appeared on all 197 episodes during nine seasons.
Cahill returned to the Atlantic Theater Company in June 2011 to perform at the end of their 25th Anniversary season. He appeared in Tom Donaghy's one-act play "I Want a Quote" about "a funny telephone conversation between a single mother and a home insurance salesman."
Cahill appeared in David Adjmi's play, 3C, at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York City in the summer of 2012. He played "annoying neighbor Terry, a swinging bachelor from the time, who, unlike most in this production, has no deep feelings at all."
Starting in the second season of CBS summer drama Under the Dome, Cahill was cast as a central character. Sam Verdreaux, a former EMT and reclusive brother-in-law, was compared to Rennie's "Big Jim" Rennie. After three seasons, the series was cancelled.
In the 2016 ABC court drama Conviction, Cahill was portrayed as the male protagonist. Conner Wallace, the Conviction Integrity Unit's chief, was a member of the New York County District Attorney's Conviction Service, which is designed to re-examine cases where there is a strong suspicion of wrongdoing. After one season, the series was cancelled.
In a three-part story arc on CBS's NCIS: New Orleans, Cahill played a hero. Among other offences, he was involved in the assassination of NCIS Special Agent Christopher Lasalle. He reunited with his ex CSI: NY co-star Vanessa Ferte in this series.
