Life and career
Klang was born in Brooklyn, New York. He began modeling as a child and started doing television and film work from a young age, and he was playing minor roles on NYPD Blue to The Nanny. He appeared in a middle school band and later attended chorus in high school. He was a member of the Playa Deception and INT groups at St. Dominic High School and Island Trees High School, as well as Playa Deception and INT. Hip-Pop, the former's own band, has released a free album. He studied music production and marketing, as well as minoring in music at Hofstra University for a brief period of time. Klang decided to take a semester off of college to pursue a music career with his group.
Klang had been in INT for nine years before it broke down because their parents wanted them to return to school because the band was going nowhere. He tried to audition for American Idol twice before losing in the first round. These experiences made him apprehensive about going further into music. Making the Band 4 came not long after returning to Hofstra and working at a warehouse, and he took time off from school in 2007. An acquaintance had turned his MySpace account into a talent show that he later attended with the support of his family. Rather than a seat in the company, he was granted his own solo deal by Diddy. In late 2008, Klang's debut album, Just a Rolling Stone, debuted at number nineteen on the Billboard 200. In the fall, he opened for Janet Jackson.
Klang joined Bad Boy Records in mid-2010, releasing their independent label Eight72 Entertainment. He began working on his second album at the same time. Donnie Klang Entertainment, his own record company, formed Donnie Klang Entertainment and unveiled his first single "Falling 4U" in 2011. On Valentine's Day, he also released a mixtape. In 2011, "X-Miss" was also released as a single for Christmas.
