Diane Farr was born in New York City on September 7, 1969. She is of Irish and Italian descent. Farr studied drama at Stony Brook University and Loughborough University in England and graduated with a joint bachelor of arts from these two universities.
Farr has published two books. The Girl Code, the first edition, was released in 2001 and has been translated into seven languages. It addresses single women's obscure language. Kissing Outside the Lines, her second book, was published in May 2011 and is a comedic memoir of her interracial conversion. Farr also writes for a number of American newspapers and runs a nationally syndicated newspaper column for the International Herald Tribune.
Farr appeared on Loveline on MTV for 200 episodes and appeared on The Drew Carey Show, Arli$$$$, and CSI. On The WB's and later UPN's Roswell, she portrayed Amy DeLuca, mother to series co-star Majandra Delfino's Maria. Maddie Hudson appeared on "Today's Like Family" before deciding to play her. Later, she co-created and starring Denis Leary on ABC's The Job.
