Pröpper joined Brighton & Hove Albion, a newly promoted Premier League club, on a four-year deal for a club-record transfer fee. He made his debut in Brighton's first ever Premier League match, playing the full match. Brighton lost 2–0 at home to eventual league champions Manchester City. In the 1–0 away loss at Bournemouth, he made his EFL Cup debut on September 19th, starting as a substitute.
