David Kaufman (born July 23, 1961) is an American actor and voice actor best known for his appearances on Dexter Douglas on Freakazoid, Jimmy Olsen on Superman: The Animated Series, Maggie's brother Aldrin on Maggie's sister Jennifer, and Margaret McFly, Michael J. Back to the Future, Fox's character on the Saturday morning animated series Back to the Future.
Early life
Kaufman was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. His father is Jewish, while his mother, Maria, is Catholic. As his kindergarten teacher gave him the plum lead role of Santa Claus in the class Christmas play, the Kaufman began participating at an early age in his hometown.
Kaufman went from St. Louis to UCLA at the age of 18, and he was a student in the Department of Theater Arts.
Personal life
Kaufman married actress Lisa Picotte on June 30, 1990; the couple has two children who are also actors, including Grace Kaufman and Henry Kaufman.
Career
Kaufman has studied and worked extensively as a professional actor in film and television since his college days.
He has worked with the Daly family on several projects: He appeared on Superman: The Animated Series and its sequel spin-offs with Tim Daly, portraying Jimmy Olsen. In 1995, Joe and his partner Lisa appeared on the series Wings, as a couple whose wedding Daly was also portrayed; the two played a couple whose fiancée Helen. He worked with Tim's sister, Tyne Daly, on Kids Like These and will return to Tim in Justice League: Doom, reprising his role as Jimmy Olsen.
Kaufman has also worked as a commercial actor. In a 1989 Hi-C Ecto Cooler commercial, one of his most prominent roles was as a dancing stockboy.
