Ciera Payton (born January 26, 1986) is an American actress and writer, based in Los Angeles.

Since 2007, Payton has gained public recognition for her starring role in Flight of Fury, playing opposite Steven Seagal..

Payton is also known for roles as Zia on the series The Walking Dead (2017), as Grace on ABC's General Hospital (2017), as Casandra on USA Network's Graceland (2014) and as Laurie Perkins on CBS's NCIS.

She also had a supporting role as Sylvia in Tyler Perry's A Madea Family Funeral. She received the 2016 Los Angeles Pioneer Woman Award for her work providing arts programs to at-risk youth.

Early life

Ciera Payton graduated from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and received her bachelor of fine arts degree in drama from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.


Ciera Payton Career


Payton got her start in the film Flight of Fury (2007), where she appeared in the female lead role of CIA agent Jessica opposite Steven Seagal. When filming Flight of Fury, she was a freshman in college. She made her off-Broadway debut in 2009, starring Savannah Black and Blue, which was produced by the Negro Ensemble Company.

Payton shifted from New York to Los Angeles in 2010, where she landed the role of Janet Tanner in the BBC American revival of Torchwood. She appeared on The Closer later in the season, competing opposite Keira Sedwick as Keisha Murphy. After appearing on a few roles on small screen, Payton was given the role of Capri in Spike Lee's film Oldboy, sharing the screen with Josh Brolin.

She debuted as the cheerleading coach in The Runner, starring Nicolas Cage in 2014.

In 2016, she was given the Los Angeles Pioneer Woman Award for her work assisting at-risk youth.

She appeared in the film A Madea Family Funeral in 2019.

In the 2021 Lifetime biopic Wendy Williams: The Movie, Payton played talk show host Wendy Williams.
