Carson Jones Daly (born June 22, 1973) is an American television host, radio host, editor, and television presenter.
Daly, a VJ on MTV's Total Request Live and a DJ for the Southern California-based radio station KROQ-FM, was a DJ on MTV's Total Request Live and a DJ for the Southern California-based radio station 106.7 KROQ-FM before 2002.
Daly joined NBC in 2002, where he began hosting and producing the late night talk show Last Call With Carson Daly, as well as occasionally hosting special event programming for NBC, such as the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks show and executive producing New Year's Eve with Carson Daly from Times Square. Early life
Daly was born in Santa Monica, California, and Jim "J.D" is the son of Coachella Valley television personality Pattie Daly Caruso (1944-2017), and Pattie Daly Caruso (1944-2017). Daly. His mother is from Fayetteville, North Carolina. When Carson was a boy, he died of bladder cancer, and his mother married Richard Caruso (1932-2017).
Daly graduated from Santa Monica High School and was a member of the golf team before graduating in 1991. He attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles but decided against pursuing a pro golf degree. He is of Irish descent and has worked with Guinness on the local "Project 3-17" to make Saint Patrick's Day a national holiday. In radio, Daly spent time as an intern for Jimmy Kimmel. He began his radio work at College of the Desert and as an intern at the former KCMJ FM (now KKUU) under the name "Kid Carson."

Career
Daly began his radio broadcasting career at San Jose, California, with the radio station KOME. Daly was then given the 6-10 PM time slot at KOME's sister station KROQ in Los Angeles. MTV recruited Daly to serve as a VJ during MTV's summer beach house series "Motel California," during Daly's time at KROQ.
MTV recruited Daly as a permanent VJ at the end of 1997, a job that necessitated Daly's move to New York. Daly began hosting MTV Live in New York.
From 1998 to 2003, Daly hosted MTV's TRL. TRL was based on two previous shows, "Total Request" and "MTV Live," both of which had previously been hosted by Daly. Daly's job as host of the famous live show included introducing the top ten videos of the day and interviewing celebrity guests.
Last Call with Carson Daly debuted in 2002. When the show was moved to Los Angeles, it was shot on the same set as Saturday Night Live from 2005 to 2005.
