Bruce Campbell Career

Career

Campbell started acting as a child and then started making short Super 8 movies with friends. After Sam Raimi started to teach Wylie E. Groves High School, the two became close friends and started making movies together. Campbell would continue to attend Western Michigan University, although he continued to concentrate on his acting career. Campbell and Raimi worked on a 30-minute Super 8 version of the first Evil Dead film, titled Within the Woods, which was first used to attract investors.

Campbell and Raimi got together with family and friends and started working on The Evil Dead a few years ago. Campbell, who appeared in the lead role, also worked behind the camera, earning a "coexecutive producer" award. Raimi wrote, produced, and edited, while fellow Michigander Rob Tapert was editor. Following Stephen King's endorsement, the film began to be distributed gradually. It became the UK's most popular film four years after its initial debut. It was also available in the United States, spawning two sequels: Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness.

Ash Williams, Campbell's character, was also drawn in the Marvel Zombie comics. He appears in five comics, one of the series Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness. When searching for the Necronomicon, he fights alongside the Marvel heroes and people who have turned into zombies (deadites). In the film "Sky High," Campbell appeared as Coach Bummer.

He has appeared in several of Raimi's films outside of the Evil Dead series, including cameo appearances in the director's Spider-Man film series. Campbell appeared in Raimi's Darkman and The Quick and Dead, but had no actual screen time in the former film's theatrical version. Campbell was confirmed to appear in Raimi's Marvel Cinematic Universe film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in March 2022.

In the film Bubba Ho-Tep, Campbell plays eccentric characters, such as Elvis Presley. He served as a supporting role in Maniac Cop and Maniac Cop 2, and he spoofed his career in the self-directed My Name is Bruce, alongside Bubba Ho-Tep.

Other mainstream films starring Campbell include supporting or starring roles in the Coen Brothers' The Hudsucker Proxy, the Michael Crichton adaptation of McHale's Navy, Escape From Los Angeles, John Carpenter's The Majestic and the 2005 Disney film Sky High.
