He graduated from Palma High School in Salinas, California. In 1997, he graduated from Berklee College of Music. During his writing and comedy classes at Emerson College, he took several writing and comedy classes. Since graduating, he felt that the rock music scene was fading in importance, so he decided to try his hand at stand-up comedy.
