Bonnie Langford Career

Early career

Bonnie Langford attended the Arts Educational School, St Catherine's School, Twickenham, and the Italia Conti Academy stage school. When she was six years old, she first came to public notice as she was named on the talent show Opportunity Knocks. Scarlett O'Hara's daughter appeared in 1974 film Scarlett (1972), as well as later appearing in the 1975 film Just William starring Violet Elizabeth Bott. During this period, she was also appearing on a children's prime-time show made by Yorkshire Television called Junior Showtime, along with child actress Lena Zavaroni, Neil Reid, Perry Cree, and Glynn Poole.

Career

Langford appeared in Doctor Who's classic science fiction series Mel, companion to both the Sixth and Seventh Doctors. She appeared in 1993 for Dimensions in Time, a special charity Doctor Who/EastEnders crossover episode on the BBC's Children in Need. In a cameo in the episode "The Power of the Doctor," she has continued to appear in many audio dramas alongside Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy Doctors as well as in a cameo.

Langford co-presented with Wayne Sleep in BBC One's most popular light entertainment series The Hot Shoe Show. She appeared in Children Will Listen, a 75th birthday tribute to Stephen Sondheim at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on October 23, 2005. Peter Pan at the Richmond Theatre in Surrey (2008–2009), and Fairy Snow in Cinderella at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford (2013–2014).

Langford competed in the first series of ITV's Dancing on Ice in 2006, collaborating professional figure skater Matt Evers. Their routines were characterized by their dramatic lifts and tricks, and they were among the most adventurous in the competitions. During rehearsals, viewers bang her head as she was spun on the ice, showing the danger of some of the moves she was trying. Their appearances were also notable for the varying reception they received from the panel of judges (who consistently voted them high, giving them the highest total scores and just two maximum scores from individual judges) and the voting public (who twice placed them in the bottom two pairs, requiring a "skate off" to remain in the competition). They finished third overall, in third place.

In the one-off Champions of Champions show that followed series two, Langford and Evers were back on the program. They were ranked second overall by the judging committee, but the public vote was less favourable, and they were one of the four teams eliminated in the first round of the tournament, and they were not among the four teams eliminated in the first round. Langford then toured with Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice: The Tour in 2007.

In April and May 2008, Langford competed in the Dancing on Ice: The Tour.

Bonnie returned to Dancing on Ice for the ninth and final series (ten weeks ago), which included some of the most popular celebrities from previous seasons. This time she was working with professional ice skater Andrei Lipanov. After losing out to Sam Attwater and his fiancé Vicky Ogden, she was disqualified in Week 5 after losing out to him. In February 2014, she was announced as one of eight celebrities to appear in Torvill & Deans Dancing on Ice: The Final Tour, between March and April 2014.

Langford's appearance on Dancing on Ice sparked a change in her career. In 2006, she appeared in the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago.

Langford appeared in Guys and Dolls' Birmingham and Plymouth tours in 2006 and 2007, playing Miss Adelaide Adams, a dance hall hostess.

Langford appeared on the ITV show Baby Ballroom: The Championship in July 2007.

Roxie Hart appeared in Chicago in 2009 and 2010.

In the first UK tour performance of the Broadway musical, 9 to 5, which was staged at the Opera House in Manchester on October 12, 2012, Langford appeared as Roz.

Dorothy Brock, the leading role of the West End revival of 42nd Street, was portrayed by her in 2018 until the show's end, on PBS' third annual "Broadway's Best" series ended in November 2019.

Langford appeared on The Masked Dancer in 2021, disguised as Squirl. On June 5th, she reached the final and was named the runner-up.

Langford was announced on 5 April 2015 that he had joined long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders for a guest appearance, later promoted to a regular role as character Carmel Kazemi, the mother of Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami). Carmel is portrayed as a "overly concerned" and "outspoken" mother. Langford said: "I'm so excited and delighted to be part of EastEnders." I'm a huge fan of the show and think the latest 30th Anniversary of the show was amazing and shows just how good British television can be. It's a huge privilege to be a member of this family."
