He first became known for his collaboration with Jay Z and Roc-A-Fella Records in February 2000, bringing his debut studio album The Truth Through Roc-A-Fella to critical and commercial success.

Sigel returned to Roc-A-Fella in 2007 after a brief absence from music and the release of his fourth studio album The Solution in December 2007 to enthusiastic reviews.

The Broad Street Bully and This Time were released indepdendently in 2009 and 2012, respectively, after leaving Roc-A-Fella for the fifth and sixth studio albums of Sigel's fifth and sixth studio albums. Sigel is also known for his numerous court problems, including a trial for an attempted murder that occurred between 2004 and 2005, which culminated in Sigel's dismissal.

Personal life

He was also charged with aggrivation, simple assault, and unlawful possession of a criminal weapon. His first trial ended in a hung jury. In a not-guilty verdict, a second trial was held.

Sigel was found guilty of federal firearms offenses and sentenced to one year and a day in federal jail in 2004.

During a robbery in Philadelphia on May 25, 2006, Sigel was fired multiple times. He was able to escape the scene and drive himself to a local hospital. This was one month after being released from jail for a short time on child support charges.

Beanie Sigel Career

Music career

Beanie Sigel's debut album, The Truth, was released on February 29, 2000 by Roc-A-Fella Records, to critical and commercial success.

Sigel and a large portion of the Roc-A-Fella roster appeared in State Property in 2002. Its publication coincided with the establishment and promotion of State Property, a group of Philadelphia artists who were part of Sigel and Freeway's Roc-A-Fella. P. Crakk, the Young Gunz (Neef Buck & Young Chris), Oschino, and Omillio Sparks were among the group's members. Sigel and Freeway's first collaboration was for the film's soundtrack, an eponymous release that included the original "Roc the Mic" by Sigel and Freeway. The Chain Gang Vol. 3 vol. 2003 was released. The Young Gunz's single "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" was followed by two songs. The record was selected for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Sigel shot various videos directed by Joe Briscella and finished his third album The B. In 2005, he served a one-year prison term stemming from a previous arrest. We're getting closer. During this time, Sigel's label head, Roc-A-Fella, Jay-Z, became president of Def Jam, which caused former business partners Damon Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke to leave and form the Dame Dash Music Group. The Billionaire by Dame Dash Music Group and Def Jam also released Sigel's The Blast. It was more than Roc-A-Fella, but it did feature work from a slew of Roc/Jay Z-affiliated producers, including Chad West, The Neptunes, Just Blaze, Boola, and Buckwild. Sigel has recruited cross-label MC talent for his album as well, including Cam'ron and Jay-Z. In its first week, Sigel's album, "Feel It in the Air," sold 131,000 copies.

Dash revealed on Twitter that he was leaving the Roc-A-Fella roster to join him, despite his closeness with the incarcerated Sigel. State Property, Sigel's company, was thrown into disarray, but Sigel's group remained at Roc-A-Fella, evidently against Sigel's wishes. Sigel doubted his company's loyalty on his release and said he was signing with Dame and Biggs due to a closer friendship with the pair than with Jay-Z:

He reiterated his views shortly after, saying that he simply did not want to be involved in the conflict and decided to reopen negotiations with Roc-A-Fella rather than transferring to Dame Dash Music Group.

Sigel re-signed with Roc-A-Fella Records in 2006 and began recording for his fourth studio album The Solution. On October 29, 2007, Sigel released "All The Above," R. Kelly's first single from The Solution. It debuted on the R&B charts at number 83. On May 22, 2007, Sigel introduced The Solution, which debuted on billboard charts at number 37.

After his time with Roc-A-Fella Records and Def Jam Records came to an end, Sigel released his first independent album The Broad Street Bully in 2009.

Sigel announced in 2010 that he was working on his sixth studio album titled The Closure, which would be released on Universal Republic and G-Unit Records. Sigel canceled the album and resigned from the music business for two weeks on May 31, 2011, renaming it The Classic. Sigel signed G-Unit Philly, 50 Cent's affiliate, in 2011 and extended his 2009 deal with G-Unit Records. Sigel's first single from the album, "B-Boy Stance," was released on July 13, 2011. Sigel told Statik Selektah on Shade 45 that he would be working on a collaborative album with southern veteran and long-time friend Scarface titled Mac and Brad on March 30, 2012. Scarface also tweeted the news via mobile. Sigel also decided to sign a distribution contract with EMI on the same day, while distribution discussions with E1, The Orchard, and Asylum were on the table, after one of his mutual friends piqued the interest of Chris Schwartz. Sigel released a new mixtape and his studio album This Time under Schwartz's direction.

Acting career

Sigel appeared on Backstage as a child actor, but his first major role was in the film State Property 2, which resulted in a sequel State Property 2. In the 2002 film Paper Soldiers, he appeared alongside Kevin Hart. A DVD was released shortly after Sigel's third solo debut The B. The B.M. is coming. Beanie Sigel came from 2005.

Sigel was interviewed by a reporter in 2006. The Rap Sheet: Hip-Hop and the Cops documentary, which exposed rappers to the NYPD's database in order to deceive hip-hop artists and executives, exposed them to the NYPD's database in 2006 as part of their attempt to depose hip-hop artists and executives.

He also applied for the lead role in the 2009 film Notorious.

Sigel appeared in the 2011 film Rhyme and Punishment, a film about hip hop performers who have served time in county jail or state/federal jail. Sigel appears in the film as a prisoner discussing his conviction and life.
