W.

William Bruce Rose Jr., Jr., (born William Bruce "Bill" Bailey; born February 6, 1962) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and singer.

He is the lead singer of Guns N' Roses, and has also been the band's sole regular member since its inception in 1985.

In addition to Guns N' Roses, he also performed with Australian rock band AC/DC in 2016, where Brian Johnson took a break due to hearing issues.

Rose rose to Los Angeles in the early 1980s, where he was named one of the best singers of all time by various media outlets, including Rolling Stone and NME.Born. Guns.

Guns N' Roses co-founded in 1985, with whom he had a lot of success and fame in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Appears for Destruction (1987), their first album, has sold more than 30 million copies around the world, and is the country's most popular debut album with 18 million units sold.

The twin albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II (1991), as well as its full-length sequels, were also very popular; they debuted at No. 1 in the United States; respectively. No. 2 and No. 2 are ranked. Following the conclusion of their two-and-a-kind Use Your Illusion Tour, Rose faded from public life for several years, while the band disintegrated due to personal and musical differences.

Since he was the band's sole remaining original member, he was able to continue operating under the Guns N' Roses banner because he had legally obtained the band name.

Despite encouraging reviews upon its introduction, he returned with a new line-up of Guns N' Roses at Rock in Rio 3, and then went on tour to promote the long-delayed Chinese Democracy (2008), which defied the music industry's commercial goals.

Rose was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Guns N' Roses in 2012, but he refused to attend the function and requested exclusion from the Hall.

Rose partially revived the "classic" version of Guns N' Roses in 2016 and has since toured the world as part of the Not in This Lifetime Tour.

Early life

William Bruce Rose Jr., Jr., was born in Lafayette, Indiana, and was the oldest child of Sharon Elizabeth (née Lintner), who was 16 years old and still in high school, and William Bruce Rose, 19 years old, was born to William Bruce Rose Jr. The father was dubbed "a struggling and charismatic local delinquent," and the pregnancy was unplanned. Rose's parents separated when he was about two years old, causing his father to kidnade and allegedly molest him before fleeing from Lafayette. Stephen L. Bailey's mother remarried Stephen L. Bailey and changed his son's name to William Bruce Bailey. He has two younger siblings, Amy, and Stuart, a half-brother. Both Rose and his siblings were regularly beaten as young children. Bailey was his biological father up until the age of 17. William Rose Sr. was murdered in Marion, Illinois, by a criminal acquaintance who was never found, although the body was never recovered. Rose was unaware of the assassination until years later.

The Bailey family was extremely religious; Rose and his family attended Pentecostal church, where he was expected to attend services three to eight times per week and even taught Sunday school. "We'd have televisions for one week, but my stepdad would kick them out because they were Satanic," Rose later recalled a cruel upbringing. I wasn't allowed to listen to music. Women were violent. "All was evil." He accused his stepfather of physically assaulting him and his siblings, as well as sexually attacking his sister. Rose found solace in music from an early age. He sang in the church choir from the age of five and appeared at services with his brother and sister, who were also named Bailey Trios. He played in the school chorus and studied piano at Jefferson High School. Rose, his second baritone, began developing "new voices" during chorus rehearsals to confuse his teacher. He eventually formed a band with his friends, one of whom was Jeff Isbell, later known as Izzy Stradlin. Anna Hoon, a girl who would later introduce him to her younger brother, Shannon, was also befriended by him.

Rose discovered his biological father's existence while looking through insurance papers in his parents' household, and he unofficially readopted his birth name. However, he referred to himself only as W. Rose because he did not want to reveal his first name with his biological father. Rose became a local juvenile delinquent in Lafayette after discovering his true family roots; he was arrested more than twenty times on charges such as public intoxication and battery, as well as three months in prison. Rose moved to Los Angeles, California, after Lafayette police threatened to suspect him as a regular criminal. Since moving to Los Angeles, he became so invested in his band AXL that his friends suggested he call himself Axl Rose. He legally changed his name to W. Axl Rose before deciding to sign his Geffen Records deal in March 1986.

Personal life

A psychiatrist found that his delinquent conduct was a sign of psychosis in Rose's late teens. In addition, he recalled his high IQ. Rose cast doubt on the diagnosis entirely in a subsequent interview, saying, 'it's a mystery.'

Rose, in contrast to his public image, was not a heavy drug user, though he did not stop using illicit drugs entirely. Rose intentionally overdosed on painkillers in 1986 due to anxiety, saying, "I couldn't take it." In an argument, I just grabbed the bottle of pills and gulped them down, and I ended up in the hospital." Rose's stay at the hospital inspired the lyrics to Guns N' Roses' song "Coma."

Rose became a tenacious believer in homeopathic medicine in the early 1990s and began regularly attending past life regression therapy. "They're correct" when he speaks out about Axl Rose's being sexually assaulted by his biological father at the age of two, which he said had stifled his mental development: His disinterest in traveling was triggered in large part by his various ailments that he acquired over time. He said he believed that these health issues were caused by him unconsciously lowering his own resistance as a form of "self-punishment." During the recording of Chinese Democracy, Rose had a personal psychic who would look at pictures of potential employees to "read the auras" and determine whether they should be hired.

Rose began a friendship with model Erin Everly, the daughter of singer Don Everly of The Everly Brothers. Everly appeared in the accompanying music video, and he wrote the song "Sweet Child o' Mine" for her. Rose and Everly were married in Las Vegas on April 28, 1990. Rose first applied for divorce less than a month ago. Everly and the couple married later divorced, but the couple was pregnant the first time. In October 1990, she suffered a miscarriage, which greatly affected Rose, who had longed to start a family. After an altercation, Everly left Rose the following November; the couple divorced in January 1991; they did not marry in January 1991.

Rose became involved in a turbulent high-profile affair with supermodel Stephanie Seymour in mid-1991. Seymour appeared in the music videos for "Don't Cry" and "November Rain" during their marriage. Rose became deeply attached to Seymour's young son, Dylan, and sought to be a good father figure for the child because there had been none in his own life. In February 1993, Seymour and Rose got engaged, but then they separated three weeks later.

Rose told Spin in 2014, "I don't know there's a definitive answer because it's subjective, and second that my focus is primarily rock singers based on a survey of vocal ranges." That said, I adore Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, Dan McCafferty, Don Henley, Michael Jackson, Don Henley, Roger Daltrey, Elton John, John Carter, Roger Daltrey, Don Henley, Elton John, Elton John, Roger McNey, Donald McNader, Elton John, Tom Bennett, Donald Johnson, Elton John, Keith John, Jerry Johnson, Etta James, Matthew Simpson, Rose later cited Queen as his favorite band and Mercury as his favorite artist.

Rose sent Indonesian President Joko Widodo a letter on April 28, 2015, asking Wido to remove the option of the death penalty in the case of the Bali Nine on humanitarian grounds. After the executions took place, Rose then chastised Widodo for "igniting the international outcry."

Rose has taken to Twitter to condemn various figures in the Trump administration, as well as other figures such as Apple CEO Tim Cook. Mnuchin replied on Twitter on May 7, 2020, when he slammed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for the Trump administration's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Axl Rose Career

Career

Rose met guitarist Kevin Lawrence outside The Troubadour in West Hollywood and formed his band Rapidfire just shy of his arrival in Los Angeles. They held a five-song demonstration in May 1983, which culminated in years of court action before being labelled an EP in 2014, which meant they were ready to Rumble. He formed the band Hollywood Rose with his childhood friend Izzy Stradlin, who had moved to Los Angeles in 1980, and 16-year-old guitarist Chris Weber after parteing ways with Lawrence. The band's "Anything Goes," "Rocker," "Shadow of Your Love," and "Reckless Life" was released in 1984 as The Roots of Guns N' Roses. Steven Adler, a guitarist and drummer for Guns N' Roses, appeared on Hollywood Rose before the band's dissolution. Rose then moved to Los Angeles. Guns. Rose spent time in Hollywood, including as night manager at the Tower Records/Video location on Sunset Boulevard, while trying to make a name for herself on the Hollywood music scene. Rose and Stradlin also smoked cigarettes for a UCLA research at $8.68 per hour, which is equal to $21 in 2021).

Raz Cue, Rose, and his ex L.A., all encouraged them in March 1985. Tracii Guns formed Guns N' Roses, a Guns bandmate, in the United States, combining their respective bands Hollywood Rose and Los Angeles. Stradlin, drummer Rob Gardner, and bassist Ole Beich all have guns on hand, as shown by the video. The band formed Rose, lead guitarist Slash, drummer Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler by June, following many line-up changes. The line-up debuted at The Troubadour and then went on to compete in the Los Angeles club circuit, amassing a devoted fan base. Several major record labels followed the band before it landed with Geffen Records in March 1986. They launched the four-song EP Live in December.

Guns N' Roses' debut album Appointment for Destruction was released in 1987. Despite receiving critical acclaim, the record got off to a slow start, with up to 500,000 copies in the first year of its release. However, the album soared to the No. 1 in North America, owing to the band's re-election and the success of "Sweet Child o' Mine," Rose's salute to his then-girlfriend Erin Everly. In the 1st position on the chart, the United States ranks 1st. Appetite for Destruction's first album, which was sold in the United States, has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, 18 million of which sold in the United States, making it the best-selling debut album of all time in the United States.

Two fans were crushed to death during the band's appearance at the Monsters of Rock festival in Castle Donington, England, where many in the crowd of tens of tens of thousands of people screamed to "It's So Easy." Rose had to halt the performance several times to quiet the audience. He began speaking to dissatisfied customers personally and giving instructions to security agents from the stage, at times stopping concerts to deal with crowd issues. "Most performers will go to a security person in their company," Rose said in 1992, and it would only be done very slowly. "You wasted your money, you should leave,'" says the person. The festival was cancelled the following year as a result of the deaths at Monsters of Rock.

Guns N' Roses first released the stopgap album G N' R Lies in November 1988, which has sold more than five million copies in the United States alone. With the album "One in a Million," Rose warns "niggers" to "get out of my way" and complains about "faggots" who "spread some fucking disease." Rose defended his use of the racial insult by saying, "it's a word to describe someone that is clearly a pain in your life" -- a problem. The word nigger does not necessarily indicate black." However, when he first arrived in Los Angeles in his late teens, he conceded that the song represented his initial and impressionable perspective, which was very different from the conservative town where he grew up in. "I was pissed off because of some black people [who] were threatening to rob me," Rose said. I wanted to smear those particular black people. I didn't want to promote bigotry." Rose said he was "pro-homosexual" in reaction to homophobia reports, but that he is "not against [homosexuals] doing what they want to do as long as it is not hurting anybody else and they are not enforcing it on [him]" (Rose)). He attributed his skepticism against gay men in his late teens and allegations of molestation by his biological father. Guns N' Roses were barred from the roster of an AIDS benefit show in New York produced by the Gay Men's Health Crisis, as a result of the scandal.

Rose was lauded as one of rock's most popular frontmen due to the success of Apprehension and G N' R Lies. By the time he appeared solo on the front page of Rolling Stone in August 1989, his fame was so high that the influential music magazine decided to his absolute requirement that the interview and accompanying photos be provided by two of his friends, writer Del James, and photographer Robert John. Kurt Loder, a television presenter, described Rose as "perhaps the best hard rock singer on the circuit today, and certainly the most charismatic."

Guns N' Roses returned to the studio in early 1990 to record the full-length sequel to Appetite for Destruction. Due to Steven Adler's heroin use, he was unable to function and caused sessions to be postponed for several days at a time. Adler was fired in July and replaced by Matt Sorum of The Cult. Dizzy Reed, the band's mainboardist, also joined the band at Rose's insistence. In January 1991, Sorum and Reed appeared at Rock for the first time with Guns N' Roses. In May of this year, the organization's long-serving boss, Alan Niven, was fired; Rose allegedly coerced Niven's dismissal against his bandmates by refusing to finish the new album until Niven was gone. After smashing his $60,000 grand piano out of the picture window, he was replaced by roadie Doug Goldstein, who Izzy Stradlin described as "the guy who gets to go over to Axl's at six a.m. in the morning."

The band began in May 1991, but without an album to sell, and it was known for its financial success and slew of controversies that transpired during shows, including late starts, on-stage rantings, and even riots. Rose's late appearances at concerts had sparked a lot of flak, with some of them appearing just hours after the band had been scheduled to perform. When Rose's on-stage demands from security forces to confiscate a fan's video camera, Rose himself dived into the audience to capture it in July 1991, 90 minutes into a concert at the Riverport Amphitheater near St. Louis. "Well, thanks to the lame-ass security, I'm going home." after being pulled back on stage. The 2,000 supporters staged a protest, resulting in an estimated $200,000 in damages.

Guns N' Roses released Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II in September 1991, which debuted at No. 2 with enough content for two albums. No. 2 and No. 2 are among the 2,000 items on this site. The Billboard 200 is the first in a nation to achieve this feat. Rose's bandmates' friendships had been strained by the time they were released, but by the time they were released, the pair's friendships had become more strained. Izzy Stradlin, his childhood friend, died in November 1991 and was replaced by Gilby Clarke of Kill For Thrills. Stradlin cited the riot and Roses' continued lateness as examples, as well as his new-found sobriety, making it difficult to be around other bandmates' continuing alcohol and opioid use.

Axl appeared with Elton John at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium on April 20, 1992, when they sang "We Will Rock You" as a duet with Elton John.

On a co-headlining tour with Metallica in August 1992, another riot took place in Montreal's Olympic Stadium. Metallica's set was cut short prior to Guns N' Roses' appearance, after singer-guitarist James Hetfield suffered second-degree burns in a pyrotechnics crash. Guns N' Roses was unable to perform early because Rose had arrived late at the venue once more. Rose complained of voice issues before going off stage, triggering a protest that culminated in the destruction of an estimated $400,000 dollar. Rose was found guilty of land theft and assault in connection with the Riverport riot in November of that year; he was fined $50,000 and received two years of probation.

On July 17, 1993, Guns N' Roses appeared at their final show of the Use Your Illusion Tour in Buenos Aires; it was Rose's last live performance with the band for seven and a half years. Rose appeared in court in August against Steven Adler, who had filed a lawsuit alleging that he had been unlawfully dismissed. Rose's father got a out-of-court settlement of $2,500,000 and 15% of the royalties for everything Adler knew before his dismissal. Guns N' Roses issued "The Spaghetti Incident" in November of that year. "This is a compilation album of mainly punk songs that were less popular than its predecessors." Rose had the hidden track "Look at Your Game, Girl," a song written by convicted murderer Charles Manson, which he wrote as a personal note to his ex-girlfriend Stephanie Seymour. Controversy ensued, and the band later promised to give any royalties to the son of one of Manson's victims.

Rose did not renew Gilby Clarke's deal with the band in June 1994 without prioritizing him as a "hired hand" as he said Clarke's term was not renewed. Rose and Slash's feud came to a halt when the latter learned that Rose had hired Paul "Huge" Tobias as Clarke's replacement. Despite the fact that the band filmed material during this period, it was ultimately not used because of their inability of collaboration, which prevented them from achieving their best work.

Rose officially left the band and formed a new alliance under the band's name in August 1995, a move she said he took "to salvage Guns not steal it." Rose reportedly bought the full rights to the Guns N' Roses name in 1997. Slash and other bandmates snatched the name before a show on the previous tour, with Axl delivering an ultimatum: they have to hand over the name to him or he will not perform. (Rose also stated that Slash's allegations were untrue, and that the suspected coercion had rendered the deal legally unavable.)

Slash left Guns N' Roses in October 1996 due to his differences with Rose, while Matt Sorum was fired in June 1997 after an altercation over Tobias' membership in the band. Duff McKagan left the band in August of that year, leaving Rose and Dizzy Reed as the only remaining band members of the Use Your Illusion period.

Rose was withdrawn from public view as Guns N' Roses' stability faded. The band never officially broke up, but it did not tour or perform for many years, and no new information was ever released. Rose continued to recruit new singers to replace band members who had left or were fired. He was considered a recluse by the late 1990s, barely speaking out or staying the majority of his time in his Malibu mansion. He was described as "Howard Hughes of rock" and "rock's greatest recluse" in several media outlets. Rose was reported to spend his nights rehearsing and writing with the band's latest lineup, Chinese Democracy.

Rose revived with Guns N' Roses at Rock in Rio 3 on January 14, 2001, just weeks after a warm-up show in Las Vegas a few weeks earlier, but the majority of the Chinese Democracy Tour's scheduled concerts in the next two years did not take place. A surprise appearance at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards was followed by an incident in November where a riot erupted at GM Place in Vancouver after Rose failed to turn up for a scheduled performance. When venue workers learned of the cancellation, a protest broke out, costing the loss of $100,000. As the band's lineup continued to expand, guitarist Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman were among his regular bandmates.

Rose again withdrew from the public view after the tour was cancelled by the promoter. During this period, he performed with Slash and Duff McKagan in a lawsuit against Geffen Records in an unsuccessful effort to stop the release of the Greatest Hits compilation album, and lent his voice to the 2004 radio show Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. "People will hear music this year," Rose said in a rare interview in January 2006. Although Guns N' Roses performed extensively in 2006 and 2007, with several guest appearances by Izzy Stradlin, Chinese Democracy has failed to manifest. Rose did collaborate on his album Angel Down with his buddy Sebastian Bach.

Guns N' Roses first album, which was released in November 2008, was released in Beijing, China. Best Buy, a Billionaire, is a mail-forward store that delivers Chinese Democracy. Rose did not contribute to the album's success, and by December, he had been missing for at least two months and had not returned phone calls or other requests from his record label, according to sources. Rose said in a subsequent interview that he did not have Interscope Records' crucial assistance. Guns N' Roses performed on another two-and-a-half years of touring, including a headlining appearance at Rock in Rio 4.

Rose was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, together with the other members of Guns N' Roses' classic lineup, marking their first year of eligibility. He did not attend the induction ceremony in April, though he had announced in an open letter three days earlier. Rose, who had long been on bad terms with several of his former coworkers, wrote that the function "doesn't appear to be somewhere I'm actually loved or respected." In 2012 and 2014, he appeared at The Joint in Las Vegas as part of the Appointe for Democracy Tour, honoring the anniversaries of Appointment and Chinese Democracy. The group's latest album, which was simultaneously with Chinese Democracy, and a remix album were both released and pending, but no new information was available, but no new information had been released as of late.

Rose and Slash were reunited for the Not in This Lifetime... Tour, one of rock history's most awaited reunion tours. They were joined by Dizzy Reed and Duff McKagan, a returning member of the band, and Richard Fortus and Frank Ferrer, a Chinese democracy-era singer, joined by Melissa Reese to fill out the remainder of the lineup. During the company's surprise show at The Troubadour in April 2016, Rose appeared on stage with Slash for the first time in nearly 23 years, ahead of the company's headlining shows at Coachella. The tour was a huge success, and it became the third highest-grossing concert tour of all time.

After long-time lead vocalist Brian Johnson had to cancel touring due to hearing issues, Rose would join them and appear as the lead singer for the remainder of the band's Rock or Bust World Tour on April 16, 2016. According to subsequent reports, guitarist Angus Young will be playing with Rose as the band's official lead singer. This did not happen, however; Brian Johnson, along with Phil Rudd and Cliff Williams, had returned to the band in 2018 and released an album, revealing that Rose only stepped in to help finish the tour and that he was never brought in to replace Johnson.

Rose appeared in an episode of New Looney Tunes as himself in 2018, performing an original song titled "Rock the Rock." Rose appeared in a cartoon again in 2021, this time Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?

After the Not In This Lifetime... Tour with the Guns N' Roses 2020 Tour, Rose and Guns N' Roses continued touring. In 2021, "Absurd" and "Hard Skool," the group's first collection of newly recorded music since 2008.

And how to do it. They have sold more than 150 million copies, starting with a string of flawless pop hits that began in the Seventies and have produced international stars of Sweden's Gotham.
