A Colombian DJ was caught on surveillance video before she was reportedly beat and strangled by her boyfriend from Texas, who is said to be married with three children. Valentina Trespalacios, 23, is seen emerging from a taxi with John Poulos, 35, early Saturday morning, a day before she was discovered inside a suitcase in a garbage can in Bogota's south side. Trespalacios takes Poulos' hand as she walked down a hallway before approaching the DJ booth for her set at Nexxus nightclub, and a security camera follows her.

As investigators continued Monday to determine if the perpetrator was part of a larger scheme, Argentine authorities arrested the mother of the man who attempted to assassinate Vice President Cristina Fernández. Federal Police agents arrested Brenda Uliarte, the 23-year-old partner of Brazilian criminal Fernando André Sabag Montiel, at a train station in the capital, Buenos Aires, on Sunday night. Although she has not been charged, investigators were investigating if she was connected to the shooting outside the vice president's house on Thursday night.

On Thursday night, a man was arrested after shooting a handgun at point-blank range against Argentinian Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner outside her house. Fernández is shown by a video from the scene as a man holding a pistol suddenly extended his arm and pointed at her head when she got out of her car. During the scenes in Recoleta, Buenos Aires, the politician ducked out of the way as many others in the audience erupted in terror. Following the suspected assassination attempt, security Minister Anbal Fernández reported that the perpetrator, 35-year-old Brazilian man Fernando Montiel (bottom inset), was arrested.
