As investigators continued Monday to determine if the perpetrator was part of a larger scheme, Argentine authorities arrested the mother of the man who attempted to assassinate Vice President Cristina Fernández. Federal Police agents arrested Brenda Uliarte, the 23-year-old partner of Brazilian criminal Fernando André Sabag Montiel, at a train station in the capital, Buenos Aires, on Sunday night. Although she has not been charged, investigators were investigating if she was connected to the shooting outside the vice president's house on Thursday night.

On Thursday night, a man was arrested after shooting a handgun at point-blank range against Argentinian Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner outside her house.
